ADDCON expands production capacity for AVIFORM
During the last two winters Germany was forced to deal with a lot of snow and ice, which consequently pushed people, technology and environment to their limits.
Conventional de-icing agents were no longer available, which in turn led to snow chaos in parts of Europe. During this critical period ADDCON reliably supplied all major airports in Central Europe with environmentally friendly runway deicing agents of the AVIFORM product line.
New Production Site in Germany
Due to increasing demand for deicers production will commence in Germany (in addition to Norway) from winter 2011/2012 onwards. This second production site will supply additional prospective clients with ADDCON deicers. It is located in the geographic center of demand for de-icing agents and will therefore increase general supply security.
Moreover, airports have for years relied on the environmentally friendly de-icing agent of the AVIFORM product line (produced by ADDCON). AVIFORM is based on the salts of organic acids (formates) and is available both in liquid (as AVIFORM L50) as well as in granulated form (AVIFORM S-Solid). The liquid product is used prophylactically to prevent ice and snow layer formation. On the other hand, should ice layers have already been formed, the granulated product should be applied. The granules melt the ice and penetrate through the ice layer thus "undermining" it. Subsequently, the ice can be removed mechanically.
Environmental Compatibility and Biological Degradation
The high efficiency of ADDCON’s deicing agent combined with its low corrosivity, excellent environmental compatibility, biodegradability and absence of residues (in contrast to gravel) continues to convince customers in various market segments. Moreover, many cities and corporations with high demands regarding environment and technology already successfully utilize deicers based on this formate. ADDCON has developed its product line VIAFORM specifically to meet these demanding requirements. Just like AVIFORM, VIAFORM is available both in liquid and granular form and constitutes a real alternative to conventional road salt and gravel due to its outstanding product features. VIAFORM allows the roads, squares and premises to be kept free of snow and ice while simultaneously protecting the environment.
Seeing as the environment is increasingly suffering from heavy amounts of sodium chloride (which are applied in the form of road salt during the winter months), perhaps further communities and businesses should rethink their deicing strategies.
