AUTOLOADER GmbH develops and sales an innovative robot based system for fully automated baggage loading at airports. All over the world the baggage loading process from the conveyor into the ULD container is still executed manually. AUTOLOADER aims to close this gap thus creating value-added for airlines, airports, passengers and workers.
The benefits of automated baggage loading mainly consist of decreased (personnel) costs and an improved loading-process in regards to quality and efficiency: reducing failure, damage to bags and theft. Concerning danger of terrorism, airport security is increased by minimizing manual interferences with baggage. Usage of airport space is optimized and occupational safety in compliance with EU directives is finally possible
AUTOLOADER’s robot based solution analyses the size and consistency of the bags; its self learning software calculates the perfect loading position in the container or ramp cart and safely loads each piece from the conveyor into the loading unit using a high-performing gripping system.
AUTOLOADER was set up in 2009 and is based in Schwaig, Germany - right next to Germany’s second-largest airport, Munich Airport, which has received multiple awards as the most innovative airport in Europe.
Product development at AUTOLOADER is approached from a technical and from a customers’ point of view, aiming at devising a solution tailored to the customers’ specific requirements.

Automation System - Automated baggage handling
The aerospace industry and global air transportation is expected to grow by approximately 4-7 % per year in the coming years. However airlines’ average profit margins are single-digit, requiring constant cost saving efforts. In our view, automation and the increased use of technology is a necessity.
The AUTOLOADER automation system is designed in a modular fashion and can be integrated into new planned airports as well as into existing baggage handling systems – without expensive changes to the existing infrastructure.
Competitive advantages of the AUTOLOADER system are the self-learning management software as well as low cycle times, high availability and low system (instalment) costs.
AUTOLOADER’s gripping system enables to load baggage more precisely, faster and with more degrees of freedom after being analyzed by a precise 3D baggage assessment.
3D Baggage Assessment
Our newly developed 3D baggage assessment system captures size, volume and consistency of the bags thus providing information for the software that calculates the perfect loading order working along the lines of the “Tetris” computer game.
Optionally, a dynamical re-sorting storage may be integrated improving the loading process by providing a higher range of bags to be chosen for certain positions in the loading unit.
An imaging system continuously verifies the situation inside the loading unit by drawing a target-actual comparison thus facilitating re-calculations of the optimal loading sequence.
Self-Learning Management Software
The entire system is controlled by a self-learning management-software corresponding to the high requirements of airports, and developed for a trouble-free integration with existing systems.
Over time, the software will learn and adopt optimized loading strategies that continuously improve the quality of the loading process.
Service
In addition to technical development AUTOLOADER’s activities comprise the provision of services when installing the system and during the entire life cycle of the product. This includes the integration of the loading system into the airport logistic system, maintenance and repair, software updates as well as training of operating personal.
