Aviation Consultants Ehmanns (AvConEhmanns) was founded in 2001 by Johannes M. Ehmanns who now coordinates and runs a group of up to 15 aviation consultants with aviation, technical, planning, design and economical background on airport or airline projects. Johannes M. Ehmanns started his aviation career in 1980 as an air force pilot trainee; received diplomas in mechanical engineering and economy and after job positions at Lufthansa Technik AG and the Traffic Department Management of Airport Cologne/Bonn GmbH, Johannes M. Ehmanns was ready for another challenge: his own aviation consultants firm.
Johannes M. Ehmanns spent a lot of time living or working in countries like USA, Russia, China, Greenland, Iceland, Tanzania, South Africa, Syria, Lebanon, Kuwait, Sudan, Israel, Iraq, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Peru and Chile. These experiences provide him with an outstanding knowledge and understanding of different cultures and mentalities around the world.

Every Master Plan, elaborated by AvConEhmanns, is guided by sustainability. For a master plan, AvConEhmanns always takes into account the individual situation and possibilities of his customer. Because Master Planning has an effect for many years on the airport operation and revenue, AvConEhmanns evaluate thoroughly the customer’s goals and strategy. Our Master Planning includes always a traffic forecast and a business plan. Normally this is performed by the Airport-Quick-Check, a patented tool developed by Johannes M. Ehmanns.
The Airport-Quick-Check enables AvConEhmanns to evaluate within maximum 3 months thoroughly the bottlenecks or weak points of an airport for operational or economical optimizations or improvements.
According to our customers’ statements, all projects were successful; that is why we offer now most of our consultancy services on a success fee base!
Where AvConEhmanns consultants do not speak perfectly the customer’s language, AvConEhmanns own interpreters perform simultaneous respectively writing translations at meetings and workshops or for reports etc.
Russia
In the meantime Aviation Consultants Ehmanns has experienced a huge acknowledgment for operational and economical improvements and optimizations of Russian airport infrastructures or airport Ground Handling in line with the Russian laws, decrees etc., but also with a focus on worldwide best practice or IATA experiences on airport operation.
Project Overview
Until now, AvConEhmanns has executed over 50 airport or airline projects as Project Manager, Interims Management, consultant, sub contractor or agent of the airport or airline, like- Functional Master Plan including aircraft movement simulations for UPS at their European Air Cargo Hub in Cologne/Bonn.
- Project Manager as a subcontractor for Hochtief AirPort GmbH to execute the International Architectural Competition for the new terminal at Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg, Russia.
- Project Manager as a subcontractor for Hochtief AirPort GmbH to put the new terminal of Warsaw Chopin Airport successfully into operation within 6 weeks including trouble shooting and training of the ground staff on the new systems at the airport.
- Traffic forecast for many airports and airlines in Europe, Asia und USA.
- Project Manager, Consultants and Trainer of Airport Sochi staff and management to prepare the airport for the Olympic Games in 2014; this includes also putting the new terminal at Sochi Airport successfully into operation.

Social responsibility of AvConEhmanns
Our world view does not end at a fence of an airport. Johannes M. Ehmanns and his colleagues started or support some humanitarian help projects in remote regions of Tanzania, Siberia, Bangladesh, Nepal and Peru. Many projects are in cooperation with local airports of these regions and some projects are already more than 8 years active.
