Herbert Systems has designed a wide range of innovative solutions for the baggage handling industry, with one of its key successes being the Pathfinda, designed to allow efficient and accurate baggage alignment. The Pathfinda was initially developed in response to an enquiry from one of the UK’s largest airports, who required an automated alignment system to ensure baggage was accurately aligned prior to entering the security scanning system.

Having developed the initial Pathfinda in 2005, Herbert Systems then continued to develop the original design, and the enhanced Pathfinda Turbo with increased throughput of up to 800 bags per hour was launched in 2009. The new design retained the exceptional reliability of the original Pathfinda, but the Turbo was able to offer greater throughput and increased accuracy. A further software enhancement allows fast processing of problem baggage, whilst keeping potential bag jams to a minimum.

There are now over 35 Pathfindas installed in airports all over the world, including five extended length versions made specifically for a Japanese airport, which handles an above average quantity of over length baggage, due to its location near a major ski resort.
