Barco committed to offer better and greener Air Traffic Control main display with 5 year warrantyKortrijk, Belgium, 16 March 2009
– Barco, a leader in display and visualization solutions for selected professional markets, announces that 2009 brings several significant developments for Barco's 2Kx2K Air Traffic Control (ATC) main display ISIS. First of all, the ISIS display now comes with a standard five year warranty. Secondly, the ISIS has been upgraded with an innovative LCD mask technology which considerably improves the display’s contrast ratio. Finally, Barco has entered a green program to manage the environmental recycling of ISIS backlights.
Standard five year warranty
With more than 7,500 displays operational worldwide, the ISIS main display has earned its reputation as the most reliable ATC display. By extending the standard warranty from two to five years, Barco further strengthens its long-term commitment to quality for the air traffic control community and demonstrates its confidence in the unsurpassed reliability of the ISIS main display. The 5 year warranty will be offered for all ISIS displays shipped from 1 January 2009 onwards. Additionally, Barco offers various warranty upgrade plans for customers who have purchased ISIS main displays earlier than 2009. LCD panel upgrade
In close collaboration with Barco, LCD provider Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd has upgraded the ISIS panels to the latest process lines and techniques. By opting for a proven and mature LCD technology, Barco and Samsung are able to offer their ATC customers outstanding and reliable LCD performance. The technology upgrade provides the ISIS display with improved characteristics, including a contrast ratio of 1000:1 combined with a large viewing angle, and a fast response time. Barco and Samsung Electronics share a 10 year-long history of mutual development in the field of LCD technology. Last year, Barco and Samsung renewed their exclusive partnership up to 2013, which allows Barco to support its customers until at least 2020.
Backlight recycling program
Barco has also recently introduced a green program which will enable customers to have their worn-out ISIS backlights recycled in an environmentally friendly way. This green initiative fits in the framework of Barco's Backlight Renewal Plan which ensures the replacement of used backlight trays with renewed ones in a coordinated way and with fast turnaround time. Upon entering the recycling program, customers will receive a Barco certificate which guarantees that all backlight material is recycled by environmentally sound methods and standards.
