Space saving check-in desk

HEATHROW TERMINAL 5, UK

When Heathrow’s Terminal 5 was revamped BAA were looking for check-in desk solution that would not only optimise the small amount of check-in desk space available but provide an ergonomic set-up for representatives and passengers alike. CBS collaborated with Icon to deliver a, now renowned, passenger terminal solution.

T5’s check-in desk solution showcases:

• Wishbone monitor arm – which can be ergonomically adjusted to individual user’s requirements;
• 1m Wishbone posts – supports the IT, allowing the monitor and arm to be swiveled around for users to view the monitor on both sides of the desk, and respective cable management.

ADELAIDE AIRPORT, AUSTRALIA

CBS worked with Pascall and Watson Architects to create a minimalist check-in area at Adelaide Airport. The check-in desk solution focused on being ergonomic for airline representatives while being aesthetic, will minimal visual clutter, to passengers. Colebrook Bosson Saunder’s Zorro Monitor Arm was implemented in creating this desired environment.

The check-in desks of Adelaide Airport’s Departures concourse showcase CBS’ Zorro Monitor Arm. Zorro has a variety of fixing options to allow simple mounting to walls or desks. The ergonomics of the arm’s design maximise free desk space and allow easy adjustment to the individual requirements of shift workers.

BARCELONA METRO CONTROL ROOM, SPAIN

The set-up and design supporting a multi-screen control room environment of an airport is just as important as the public area of the passenger terminal. The ergonomic technology support solution must provide shift work controller’s with easy screen adjustment to their individual sizes and heights.

CBS worked with Grupo Floria to fit out this multi-screen control room at Barcelona Metro. The classic monitor arm Wishbone system was installed onto the Toolbar to support four to eight screens in a variety of monitor orientations and alignments, depending on the controller’s role requirements.

CAFÉ / PASSENGER LOUNGE

Airport passengers are becoming more expectant of the technological facilities provided in passenger terminals. Irrespective of whether they are a business or leisure traveler, entertainment and internet connections are increasingly important to passengers. From a service perspective they can aid airlines in helping to reduce the perceived duration of delays.

The café / lounge mock-up is yet to be adopted although it indicates the range of applications available for CBS’ products in the Airport environment, and Passenger Terminals more generally. The award winning Rodney, with its full range of ergonomic articulation and height adjustability, is showcased in this example.
