Airline departure lounges - Colebrook Bosson Saunders Case Study - CAFE / PASSENGER LOUNGEAirport passengers are becoming more expectant of the technological facilities available in passenger terminals. Irrespective of whether they are a business or leisure traveler, entertainment and internet connections are increasingly important to passengers. Their behaviour is also changing with an increasing proportion of passengers opting to check-in online and presenting chip-loaded passports to get through customs quicker. These things all attribute to passengers having more time air side and the need for interactive cafes, lounges and facilities.
CBS are at the forefront of supporting these requirements, and what’s more as part of an ergonomic and aesthetically pleasing solution. CBS focus their design on bridging the gap between humans and the way the body interacts with technology. For example with a flat screen the height, angle and distance in relation to a person’s face are key ergonomic considerations. Other important factors include the need to free up desk / surface space and cater for flexibility within the environment of use.
Here are two CBS products with a description of their possible application:
Rodney – has a unique aesthetic design gives the arm a full range of ergonomic articulation and adjustability. In a lounge environment were a screen is more likely to be act as a television screen or present information, it allows the viewer to distance the screen as close or far away as they wish. Or if they would be prefer to use the desk space, on which it is mounted at the back of, completely move the screen to the side and out of the way. In café’s the mounting allows customers to use the table for food and beverage without risk of spilling it on the screen or respective cabling – cable management is built on the arm via minimalist clips.
Tube Station – is a power and data terminal that caters for multiple users – the number is defined to worktops based in individual specification. The terminal can be a portal for passengers to connect their own laptops to the internet, power and other data provided within the central ‘tube’ column. Other uses include information or ticketing kiosks, touch screen help points or internet café environments. For more information or to get details on developing your unique solution, please contact CBS Passenger Terminal expert Stuart Cross on +44 207 940 4266 or stuart.cross@cbsproducts.co.uk
