Airport Baggage Handling Systems, Sorting and RFID integration
Crisplant is among the world’s top three suppliers of baggage handling systems.
Providing fully integrated high-speed, automated baggage handling systems for small and large airports worldwide. Crisplant produce and integrates systems for security screening, storage, sorting and transportation of departure baggage from check-in to departure gate, as well as of transfer and arrival baggage.
Each system is tailor-made according to the specifications of the client and includes the entire process from concept analysis and design to long-term service & support including operations and maintenance.
FKI Logistex shows two industry firsts at Passenger Terminal Expo 2009 - 18/03/2009
FKI Logistex a leading global supplier of automated material handling systems will be presenting their latest industry first systems for high speed automated baggage handling at the Passenger Terminal Expo on 24 26th March 2009 at ExCel, London, UK.Key Facts:
* RFID Tunnel: the first fully integrated RFID and barcode identification system for high-speed baggage handling
* LS-4000E: high-speed sortation system cuts energy consumption by up to 75%
* LS-4000E will be presented on FKI Logistex® Stand No 1715
* RFID Tunnel will be demonstrated on SICK AG’s Stand No 1915
The new RFID Tunnel is the first system to fully integrate RFID and barcode identification technologies to deliver next-generation automated baggage handling with near-perfect read-rates. They will also be presenting the energy-efficient LS-4000 high-speed sortation system which uses new motor technology to reduce energy consumption by up to 75%.
“These new systems represent significant advances in baggage handling capability which will allow airports to achieve new levels of cost control and customer satisfaction. Although innovative, the systems build on FKI Logistex’s extensive, worldwide experience in designing and installing state-of-the-art automated baggage handling systems and deliver a degree of confidence, with ground breaking, state-of-the-art technology” explained Kim Nyborg Carlsen, Director for Airport Systems, FKI Logistex.
RFID Tunnel
The SITA Baggage Report 2008 estimated that around 42 million items of baggage go missing every year in the world’s airports. FKI Logistex’ new RFID Tunnel not only reduces the number of items which are short-shipped but will also reduce costs by minimising the need for manual baggage handling.
“Whilst the RFID Tunnel introduces a new level of read-rates in automated baggage-handling, it is also designed for easy plug-and-play integration. It can be installed into new high-efficiency sortation systems or retro-fitted into existing installations to provide a single state-of-the-art baggage system.” commented Kim Nyborg Carlsen, Director for Airport Systems, FKI Logistex Europe.
The RFID Tunnel was jointly developed by FKI Logistex and SICK AG - a leading global innovator in RFID sensor technology. The new RFID unit complies with IATA specifications and can be retro-fitted into existing FKI Logistex baggage handling systems or fully integrated into their latest energy-efficient systems for green-field projects.
LS-4000 energy-efficient sortation system
The Linear Synchronous Motor (FKI-LSM) technology, developed for the LS-4000E tilt-tray sorter is a significant step towards helping customers to reduce their carbon dioxide emissions and costs, with the new motor reducing power consumption by up to 75% compared to conventional motors.
The contact-free operation between moving parts allows the new motor technology to achieve ultra-low maintenance levels and very low noise levels. The LS-4000E sorter is constructed by FKI Logistex using the same optimised platform. This ensures fast, trouble-free installation and commissioning, as well as maximising reliability and availability. The versatile, modular design is based on standardised units, which integrate mechanical and electrical components fully tested and certified in-house prior to installation.
The LS-4000E high-speed sortation system will be on FKI Logistex Stand No 1715 at Passenger Terminal Expo 2009. Baggage tags for the RFID Tunnel will be printed on the FKI Logistex stand and scanned through the RFID Tunnel which will be demonstrated on SICK AG’s Stand No 1915.
