FIRSTCo

Control Systems Design and Integration

Firstco is a leading independent Controls and Communications Systems Design practice, employing over 40 engineers across a spectrum of consultants, senior engineers, designers and technical support. Unlike many Consultancy practices, Firstco also has extensive experience and capability in delivering and supporting Controls and Communications systems. This brings an added level of knowledge and understanding of our clients’ operations to the design and specification of such systems.

Firstco has worked extensively in the buildings and transport sectors for over 15 years and specialises in large integrated transport systems projects. We have worked with a number of blue chip client’s including End-user/Operators, Multi-Disciplinary Consultancies and Complex Building Contractors. Firstco brings practical knowledge of systems at all stages of the project life-cycle. We are increasingly involved to provide strategic input even while the earliest functional descriptions of systems are being prepared. As a result, we no longer just provide technical expertise, but can also focus on the crucial aspects of a client’s business and their future, operational requirements.

Professional Registration at Firstco

Professional Registration at Firstco - 20th May 2010

Each year Firstco tries to provide at least one day to its Graduate Engineers to focus on non-technical training. This year, on 10 May, the programme looked at Professional Registration, or how to become either a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer. Roy Bowdler, Senior Registration Coordinator with the Institute of Engineering Technology (IET) kicked the event off with a general presentation to the 13 Firstco delegates on the subject. This was followed by individual meetings between him and each member to discuss and advise on the best particular route to professional registration for the person concerned. In the meantime, group sessions were held on running and performing at meetings. Darren Grey also shared his recent successful experience of professional registration with the group and Kevin Stringer discussed his role as the lead in Sales activity for Firstco. It is intended that the recent momentum started by Darren Grey will encourage most, if not all staff, to start the professional registration process and gain the appropriate level of recognition that the IET represents within the international engineering community. Firstco is committed to helping its staff strive for the highest standards possible to help achieve its own business objectives and the lifelong, continuous professional development of each individual.
