Firstco is a leading independent Controls and Communications Systems Design practice, employing over 40 engineers across a spectrum of consultants, senior engineers, designers and technical support. Unlike many Consultancy practices, Firstco also has extensive experience and capability in delivering and supporting Controls and Communications systems. This brings an added level of knowledge and understanding of our clients’ operations to the design and specification of such systems.
Firstco has worked extensively in the buildings and transport sectors for over 15 years and specialises in large integrated transport systems projects. We have worked with a number of blue chip client’s including End-user/Operators, Multi-Disciplinary Consultancies and Complex Building Contractors. Firstco brings practical knowledge of systems at all stages of the project life-cycle. We are increasingly involved to provide strategic input even while the earliest functional descriptions of systems are being prepared. As a result, we no longer just provide technical expertise, but can also focus on the crucial aspects of a client’s business and their future, operational requirements.

Ian Fugeman joins Firstco as Non-Executive DirectorIan Fugeman has joined the board of Firstco, the specialist Controls and Communications Systems Company, as a Non Executive Director.
Firstco Chairman Mark Calnan said "we are absolutely delighted to welcome Ian onto the board of Firstco. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in managing and delivering large infrastructure projects and the processes and people required to do so. His pedigree in delivering such projects is well regarded throughout the industry and aligns well with Firstco's own experiences in delivering technical solutions to similarly complex projects. We believe Ian's appointment will add strength to the Board as we continue to grow the company in 2011."
Ian has worked with Firstco and its principals for well over 20 years on prestigious projects. These include the Heathrow Express Rail Link, where Ian managed the design and fit out of the stations and tunnels for BAA, and subsequently on Heathrow's mega Terminal 5 Programme where Ian held the position of BAA Head of Rail and Tunnels. At T5 Ian's projects included the Airside Road Tunnel, the Track Transit System, extensions to the Heathrow Express and Piccadilly Lines and associated sub-surface stations. Most recently Ian has been employed by Crossrail as the Engineering Advisor where, amongst other senior roles, he has championed Value Management across the programme.

Ian Fugeman (FICE) is a respected manager of major infrastructure and transportation projects with experienced gained on various projects ranging from Dubai Dry Dock, to the Channel Tunnel and more recently BAA’s Terminal 5 programme of works at Heathrow.
