Flughafen Wien AG is one of the few listed airport operators in Europe. Its public shareholders, the province of Lower Austria and the city of Vienna, each hold 20% of share capital and thereby provide a stable ownership structure.A further 10% of the Company’s share capital was transferred to an employee fund in 2000, and allows the employees of Flughafen Wien AG to participate directly in the success of the Company. The remaining 50% of shares represent free float.

Summer flight plan 2009: Vienna International Airport offers the most destinations in Eastern Europe The current summer flight plan for Vienna International Airport is now available in pocket format. It shows that - once again -Vienna is the most important starting point for travel to Eastern Europe: with 44 destinations Vienna International Airport has the largest offering. In comparison, Frankfurt has 38 destinations in its flighth plan, followed by Munich with 35 destinations, Prague (29 destinations), Zurich (24 destinations), Budapest (22 destinations) and Milan MXP (17 destinations).
New connections to Great Britain
The 2009 summer flight plan also includes new routes for passengers: on 2 April 2009, Easy Jet will introduce daily flights to London Gatwick. This new connection complements the current route from Vienna to London Luton. The Irish airline Aer Lingus also starts daily flights from Vienna to London Gatwick on 20 April. This carrier has connected Vienna and Dublin since January 2005.
