H+S chooses IAC Aviation for dual engine test facility

A bespoke IAC Aviation turnkey turbofan test facility for H+S in 2005

IAC Aviation has been awarded a prestigious contract for a turnkey, dual engine test facility at H+S Aviation Limited, Portsmouth which will offer full performance, post overhaul capability for turboshaft and turboprop engines.

H+S Aviation was recently selected by a leading engine manufacturer as an authorized overhaul facility for one of the OEM’s helicopter engines. Furthermore, as part of the ongoing improvement and streamlining of their MRO business, H+S will transfer all of their turboshaft engine testing into the new facility.

As a specialist supplier of engine and aircraft test facilities for over 50 years, IAC will design, manufacture and commission the test facility. At the core of the facility, IAC will supply their latest ADAS (automatic data acquisition system) and engine control system complete with vibration suite and electronic throttles. The system is both mechanical and FADEC interface capable, and will link into the OEM data reduction programmes. Other packages include the aerodynamic and acoustic hardware, dynamometer systems, fuel conditioning, engine handling, fire protection and CCTV monitoring to provide a full turn key project.

H+S Aviation’s investment not only augments their capability, but will also offer higher efficiency testing: reduced test times, reduced fuel usage hence reduced emissions.

IAC also provide H+S Aviation with test facility calibration services and technical support through their dedicated Product Support Team.

IAC Aviation’s Business Manager Nick Smith commented: “IAC is extremely proud to have been selected by H+S Aviation for this prestigious project. The placement of repeat business for this major contract reflects the successful delivery of a turbofan test cell in 2005 and the excellent ongoing relationship between our two companies. We have worked hard with the H+S team to develop an extremely intelligent solution that integrates into the existing site and offers a cost effective solution with substantial operational benefits for the future.”
