LFV Aviation Consulting has been selected to Redesign Airspace in Estonia

LFV Aviation Consulting, a subsidiary to LFV has been selected to develop PBN arrival and departure paths and CDA capability for Tallinn Airport

LFV Aviation Consulting AB, the consultancy subsidiary of the Swedish the LFV Group, has been selected by Estonian Air Navigation Services to redesign the Tallinn terminal airspace.

New Performance-Based Navigation (PBN) arrival and departure paths shall be developed for Tallinn Airport, as well as introducing capability for Continuous Descent Approach (CDA).

PBN defines different navigation accuracy depending on what type of technology is available onboard the aircraft and is the current ICAO concept of modern air navigation. CDA enables the aircraft to approach an airport with its engines on idle which is beneficial for the fuel consumption and the environment.

LFV, in close cooperation with the Estonian Air Navigation Services, will provide airspace and flight procedure design, operational procedures, safety assessment, simulation and validation as well as a KPI framework for CDA operation.

Having developed and deployed several PBN flight procedures in Swedish airspace over the recent years, with Required Navigation Performance technology (RNP) and CDA as cornerstones in the Swedish Green Flights Programme, LFV will be able to transfer the operational experience from practical PBN operation to the Estonian counterpart.

By the deployment of this new airspace system Estonia paves the ground for a more efficient air traffic system enabling higher capacity, better predictability and a harmonisation with the development of the development in SESAR, the pan-European programme for the future air traffic management solutions.
