Control Systems
Controls for all aspects of baggage handling systems are provided through our in house specialists.
Control systems are usually based on Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), we have experience in using the worlds leading manufacturers of PLCs and are therefore likely to be able complement our clients chosen automation approach.
This experience extends to various standards of networking to allow large mutli-controller schemes to be built as well as small standalone schemes.
Over many years of providing baggage handling systems we have extensive refined libraries of software covering alomost all aspects of baggage handling control including innovative leading edge control techniques. This allows us to implement control schemes cost effectively with low risk.
It is also now commonplace to provide computers for operational and maintenance diagnostics purposes to allow the system to be operated efficeintly. Many of our previous projects have incorporated such systems as part of our control system.
Systems Integration
Modern baggage handling systems are often implemented within relatively short timescales requiring enhanced levels of integration between the various disciplines involved in the project. Systems integration capability is a key factor in ensuring that the project is successfully delivered.
Our system integration capabilities extend from the earliest concept stages of project feasibility and design right through to the handover of a fully tested operational system. Our capabilities are based on a procedural approach to the the integration of our own activities with those of other trades and disciplines. This approach ensures that all integration issues are considered and ealt with at the appropriate stage of the project.

Operation & Maintenance
The importance of system operation and maintenance has been increasingly recognised for its importance to overall system operation.
Through our sister company Axima we have the capability to offer a very comprehensive range of support services to our customers. This range extends from the simplest support service to a complete facility management approach based on target service levels.
Service levels have proved to be a very beneficial approach to our clients. Appropriately defined service levels can be designed for at the earliest stages of system concept and form the basis of the operational management strategy for the system. This type of focus has been demonstrated to excel in providing what the customer wants from a system.
A current project uses 'In System Time' as the key parameter for a baggage transfer facility. In system time encompasses all of the normal performance aspects of throughput, reliability etc but adds a specific focus based on what is important to the customer, that is that arriving bags reach their correct departure aircraft as often as possible.
Operation and maintenance capability is also an important consideration in Build Operate and Transfer (BOT) projects becoming increasingly popular as a way to finance such infrastructure projects.
