Lufthansa Cargo AG became an autonomous company within the Lufthansa Group on 30 November 1994, reflecting the growing importance of airfreight as a business area in its own right.
With a transport volume of 1.70 million tonnes of freight and mail, 8.28 billion revenue tonne-kilometres and revenues of around 2.91 billion euros in 2008, Lufthansa Cargo ranks among the world’s biggest cargo carriers.
The company currently employs around 4,600 staff worldwide. Lufthansa Cargo’s core competency is the airport-to-airport business.

Dhaka new in the schedule of Lufthansa CargoCargo airline connects Bangladesh capital with Frankfurt from 20 April
Lufthansa Cargo is expanding its route network in Asia and offering its customers first flights to Bangladesh. Starting 20 April, the cargo airline is connecting Frankfurt with once-weekly flights to Dhaka. The flights to the capital of Bangladesh, on Wednesdays, will be operated by a Lufthansa Cargo MD-11 freighter.
“Bangladesh has assumed growing importance as a production base for the international fashion industry. Our direct flights to and from Dhaka will shorten the transport time for customers and link them into Lufthansa Cargo’s global network,“ noted Carsten Hernig, Regional Director South Asia and Middle East of Lufthansa Cargo.
The flight leaves Frankfurt on Wednesdays at 01.40 hours, arriving in Dhaka at 19.10 hours after a stopover in Mumbai. The return flight from Dhaka leaves on Wednesdays at 22.15 hours and is scheduled to land in Frankfurt at 06.00 hours on Thursdays after a brief stop in Delhi.
