Airport Obstruction Lighting
OBSTA has been originated within CLAUDE Company, inventor of the Neon fluorescent tube and of the Krypton lamp at the beginning of the last century.
Since the 70s, OBSTA is specialized in manufacturing long life obstruction lights in compliance with ICAO annex 14 chapter 6 recommendations, ICAO Aerodrome Design manual and FAA regulations.
They can be used for all kind of obstacle such as high voltage lines, towers, chimneys, high rise buildings. Since 1992, OBSTA has joined CITEL group, specialized in the manufacture of gas discharge tubes and surge protections.

Neon Low Intensity Obstacle Light
FAA L810 CERTIFIFIED
ICAO LOW INTENSITY TYPE A & B CERTIFIED
The cold neon discharge lights manufactured by obsta are available as ICAO low intensity type A or B obstacle lights and FAA L810 red fixed lights based on cold neon discharge technology. The cold discharge neon technology allows obtaining very high performances, robustness and a very long life expectancy.
Cold neon discharge features:
- Very long lifetime whatever is ambient temperature
- No light output degradation
- Not sensitive to high temperature
- Light source & optic 100% hard glass
The OBSTA neon lights are available in all voltage (12VDC, 24VDC, 48VDC, 110VAC and 240VAC). Some of those lights are also available with special optic to optimize the power consumption when they are powered with solar generators or battery cabinets.
LED Low Intensity Obstacle Light
FAA L810 CERTIFIFIED
ICAO LOW INTENSITY TYPE A & B CERTIFIED
The LED NAVILITE range manufactured by obsta is available as ICAO low intensity type A, ICAO low intensity type B and FAA L-810 lights. The moulding solution offers good heat dissipation for optimum led performance. Initial luminous intensity is far more higher than ICAO and FAA minimum requirements to cope with natural led degradation.
Main features:
- Initial luminous output twice higher than ICAO and FAA requirement,
- Multiple and redundant circuitry of leds in azimuth, 64 LEDs for NAVILITE type A and 192 LEDs for NAVILITE type B
- Perfectly waterproof.
The NAVILITE lights are available in all voltage (12VDC, 24VDC, 48VDC, 110VAC and 240VAC).
BALISOR for Overhead Wires from 60KV to 550KV Line
Created by OBSTA in the 60's, the BALISOR® is an obstacle light installed directly on the high tension overhead wire.
It takes its energy directly on the high voltage wire. Different configuration exists depending on the voltage of the HV line from 60KV up to 550KV.
The BALISOR® corresponds to a low intensity light (red fixed light) in the ICAO standards.
The BALISOR® has an incredible life expectancy: Some units installed in the 70's close from the Paris French airport Roissy Charles De Gaulle are still perfectly working today!
Medium Intensity Obstacle Light
The medium intensity flashing obstruction light manufactured by obsta is available as ICAO white or red medium intensity light type A and type B. It also complies with FAA L865 & L864 lights. They are dedicated to day and night marking of any obstacles.Main features:
- Long life linear flashing tubes,
- Modular design easy to maintain,
- Cover and optic hard glass made.
