Recording Systems for the Air Traffic Community

Precision Applications is a world class manufacturer of Recording Systems for the Air Traffic Community.  The Veristore range of recorders has been developed specifically for this application and satisfies the requirements of a modern ATC environment.

Voice, radar and screen display signals are captured, recorded, retrieved and replayed.  All sources of data are stored in one second blocks, which are time stamped.  This enables the data blocks to be accurately identified to ensure that all are fully synchronised when replayed.

The data is then held in a rolling store, which gives access to recordings for a configurable number of days.

Precision Applications offer comprehensive support of their products, including technical and applications support, installation, commissioning and maintenance, all of which can be tailored to individual requirements.

  • Air Traffic Recording Management.
  • Dedicated hardware recorders not based on PCs.
  • Voice and radar are recorded without coding or compression to ensure faithful reproduction.
  • When replayed, voice, radar and screen displays are fully synchronised.
  • Robust recorders designed to work in critical aeronautical environments.
  • Comprehensive support packages offered for all equipment.

VERISTORE VOICE and DATA RECORDER

The Veristore voice and data recorder is readily scalable to individual customer needs and offers a future proof hardware based recording solution for the capture, storage, retrieval and playback of voice and data.  Data is recorded using sixteen bit digitisation with no compression or threshold triggering to ensure faithful reproduction with no degradation of quality.  This enables a PESQ (Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality) score of 4.3 to be achieved on replay.

The software employed within the recorders is Static Code, which means that it has no run time functions and is designed to run with un-changing hardware. This meets the requirements of IEC 61508 SIL4, which is not true of any Windows based systems.

Data is input, written to disk and then read back from the disk and checked for integrity. This is a true read-after-write facility, just as there was on earlier generations of reel-to-reel tape recorders.

Replay does not affect recording in any way and may be instigated at any time using the Veristore graphical user interface, which is based on the Windows .NET framework.

Voice and radar from selected channels can be replayed instantly from any of the data held in the rolling store. Data held in the rolling store may be automatically or manually archived to 2.5 inch Mini Drives if required for legal or any other reasons.

In Redundancy Mode two Veristore recorders operate in parallel to provide total redundancy for each recorder and its interfaces ensuring that no data is ever lost due to switchover of equipment.  Uniquely, Precision Applications offers a fifteen year support undertaking for the Veristore Voice and Data Recorder.

VERISTORE SCREEN RECORDING

Included in the Veristore product range is a dedicated Screen Recorder, which enables the ATC operators screens to be recorded at rates exceeding five frames per second, even with 2k x 2k screens.

When these screen recordings are subsequently replayed in synchronism with the recorded voice signals and plot extracted radar a true picture of any event may be obtained, which will allow detailed analysis of any situation.

Use of the latest technology means that there has to be no compromise between quality and storage capacity and active splitters allow the RGB, VGA or DVI feed to the screen to be split without any degradation of the ATC screen display.

VERISTORE CENTRAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

A Central Management System is available which affords complete management and monitoring of all recorders in the system and enables replay from any of the recorders.  A complete overview of the current status of any of the recorders and the status of each input channel on a selected recorder is readily available.

Audio, radar and screen recordings from one or more channels of the connected recorders may be selected and replayed totally synchronously.  Complete replay scenarios may be saved on either the local or a remote PC or to a CD or DVD for subsequent replay.

Audio recordings may also be saved in .wav format for replaying by standard media players.

All system and alarm logs can be viewed and downloaded to a spreadsheet.

VERISTORE FIELDPRO RECORDER

The Veristore Fieldpro Recorder is a compact version of the main Veristore Recorder.  It is robust and reliable and can be easily installed, commissioned and operated with minimum knowledge or training.  It is ideal for smaller installations that only require a limited number of channels.

Veristore Fieldpro supports 1 to 32 channels of voice recording or 1 to 16 channels of voice and 1 or 2 radar channels with a rolling store having a maximum duration of 56 days.

Veristore Fieldpro is also ideal for use in emergency back-up locations for larger installations.
