Aviation Tool Manufacturers and Torque Wrench Technology
Stahlwille - the German Manufacturer renowned for their high quality and exceptionally durable hand tools. Their comprehensive range includes; hand tools, torque measurement and calibration equipment, tool storage and tool control solutions for both standard and bespoke requirements. Stahlwille’s products are designed to meet and exceed aerospace and industrial requirements.
Torque measurement products have become a one of Stahlwille’s “keys to success”. An important step in the development of Stahlwille's capabilities in the field of torque measurement was the recognition and accreditation by the German Calibration Service (DKD) in accordance with the DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 in 1997. This now longstanding accreditation reflects the experience and competency required in order to be able to issue official DKD calibration certificates for torque calibration work completed in their laboratories.
Additional “keys to success” include products and services like their intelligent tool organisation systems, tailored to meet the needs of specific industries or individual customers. One example of this is the "Tool Control System" (TCS), which has received the prestigious Aerospace Industry Award. A key benefit of this system is that it enables the worker to be able to quickly identify lost or missing tools with ease. In safety critical environments like the aerospace industry, a tool "left behind" can pose direct hazards to safe operation. The inlays of the “Tool Control System” provide a precision fit for the tools and the trolley.
STAHLWILLE is proud that their products are not just “Made in Germany” but rather “Forged and Finished” in Germany. This means their range of spanners, sockets, ratchets, pliers, screwdrivers, storage solutions as well as their torque wrenches, torque testing and calibration equipment have been developed and manufactured in their own production facilities, all of which are all located in Germany. – German quality and precision from the design stage through to the finished product.
Aviation Tools
STAHLWILLE performance advantages:
High Performance Quality (HPQ) – QuickRelease (QR) & Anti-Slip Drive (AS-Drive)
STAHLWILLE hand tools are manufactured from specific and high-grade steel alloys. The use of high-grade materials combined with high-tech manufacturing techniques result in robust and extremely durable products. In addition, HPQ sockets and wrenches are free of cadmium and are therefore suitable for use on titanium alloy components and fasteners as commonly found in the aerospace industry.
The safety locking mechanism built into the components of the QuickRelease system ensure a secure and rapid interconnection from the ratchet through the extensions and/or swivels and then to the socket. It effectively turns the sum of all parts into a single combined tool. Nothing can get lost because it is unlikely to inadvertently release a tool. To release or change extensions or sockets, simply depress the button. Even if you have oily or greasy hands, attaching and removing the individual components is so simple. QuickRelease, never again will you have to search for that socket you lost in use.
STAHLWILLE sockets and wrenches are equipped with the AS-Drive (Anti-Slip Drive) profile. The unique AS-Drive profiles in combination with Stahlwille’s precision tolerances enable a higher transfer of a high level of force and this force is applied to the flats of nuts and bolts instead of to the corners. No longer will you have to worry about stripping the corners off nuts and bolts.
Intelligent Torque Solutions
STAHLWILLE manufactures a variety of torque measurement products to meet the demands of aerospace applications. The company was accredited in 1992 to the DIN EN ISO 9001 standard, well ahead of most competitors. Their latest development is the “perfectControl” automated torque calibration device. This unit enables calibration of both click and indicating type torque wrenches. It provides increased efficiency and enhanced precision to the calibration process whilst remaining simple to use.
Thanks to its unique power drive and the intelligent controller system, the loader considerably reduces the physical effort and the time required to complete calibration tasks. The spindle‘s precision bearing and the fine increment motor control system eliminate erroneous readings which generally originate from operator induced error. Both click and indicating torque wrenches can be calibrated against a variety of international standards. The tool being calibrated remains in the same position throughout the loading process thus preventing measurement errors caused by a shifting point of force application.
DKD Calibration Services
The company's calibration laboratory was recognised and accredited for torque measurement by the German Calibration Service (DKD) in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 in 1997.
The laboratories are currently accredited to the DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025: 2005 meeting the specific requirements listed in Technical Specification ISO/TS 16949.
This means that torque wrenches calibrated by their laboratories can be certified and issued with official DKD calibration certificates.
With STAHLWILLE as your preferred partner you can be ensured of the integrity of your torque measurement equipment, records and processes.
TCS - Tool Control System
TCS has been awarded the prestigious Aerospace Industry Award. A key benefit of this system is that it enables the worker to be able to quickly identify lost or missing tools with ease. In safety critical environments like the aerospace industry, a tool "left behind" can pose direct hazards to safe operations, TCS can significantly reduce these risks.
Originally the TCS Tool Control System was developed by STAHLWILLE in conjunction with British Aerospace (now BAE Systems) and has subsequently been expanded throughout the aerospace industry. Today, the system has spread to many automotive and other industrial operations that benefit from the improvements in efficient and theft prevention. The system provides a high level of visibility and protects high-grade tooling of virtually any nature.
The Tool Control System is based around the implementation of tooling arranged in chemical resistant foam inlays with precision CNC milled apertures specific to each tool. A second foam layer in the alert colour yellow is underneath each tool and ensures that just a glance is enough to see whether all tools are present and accounted for or not.
