400 Hz Power Supply Systems for Airports
The airport operators become more and more under pressure to reduce their impact on the environment: noise, CO2 output and oil consumption. TDA Lefébure helps them by offering solutions to minimize the use of the aircraft APUs and of diesel GPUs when the aircraft is at the parking lot.
TDA Lefébure serves its customers with a number of unique solutions for the 400 Hz or 28V power supply of aircraft at the airport and in the maintenance hangars.
For an optimal availability of the 400 Hz power supply and a minimisation of the costs, TDA Lefébure recommends, as far as possible, a centralised 400 Hz generation, supplying the different embarkation points. Based on such a solution, a limited number of converters can supply a large number of aircraft parking lots. The failure of one converter will not leave an aircraft without 400 Hz supply, as the other converters wired in parallel will compensate the failing equipment.
In cooperation with its partners, TDA Lefébure defines and configures for you the complete 400 Hz power supply system, taking charge of the whole installation from the general power supply of the airport till the aircraft connector.
400 Hz power supply for aircraft on the ground
BRN400 Retractable pit
The Retractable Pit is the optimal solution for storing and protecting the 400 Hz aircraft cable for aircraft parked outside on remote positions.
It provides easy handling of the pit and of the cable. When closed, it lies flush with the ground. Further facilities, such as aircraft grounding cable, can be incorporated in the Pit.
400 Hz cable retriever on passenger boarding bridges
The Skypit® System caters for the secure storage of highly flexible cables providing 400 Hz power to the aircraft from the passenger bridge. The positioning of the pit on the side of the bridge frees the whole space below the bridge for the traffic of vehicles. Alternatively, it leaves the space free for the positioning of a PCAir system.
The cable storage requests neither a drum, a rotating contact nor a quirl, reducing the risk of failure and the need for maintenance. The weight of the Skypit is significantly lower than any solution using a drum for the storage of the cable.
Ground support equipment pits
Installed at the embarkation or maintenance point, these pits withstand the load of an aircraft wheel or of a refuelling vehicle.
Following equipment can be incorporated in these pits: 400 Hz decontactors or aircraft plugs, 28 V DC or 230 V AC plugs, airplane earthing plugs, fanning air, compressed air quick couplings or any other facility upon request, subject to study.
LOV400 Cable Coiler
This simple system allows for an easy storage of the 400 Hz aircraft cables. It finds its use both on civil and military airports, where the use of a ground pit is not possible or not requested.
TDS400 Lined Ground Pit
Like the TSA 400, this Pit is designed to withstand the load of the passage or of the parking of an aircraft or of a refuelling vehicle.
In case of damage, it can be exchanged within a few minutes, thanks to its unique lining conception, ensuring the highest availability of the parking point and of the power supply to the aircraft.
400 Hz power supply on trailer
These trailers convert 50 Hz power into 400 Hz at the foot of the aircraft. Upon request, the trailers can be delivered in different powers and can integrate 28 VDC supply.
They represent an optimal solution to avoid the use of a diesel GPU or of the aircraft’s APU, provided that 50 Hz power is available next to the parking lot.
AN400 INFRA operator protection set in 400 Hz distribution.
This set acts as a 115 V / 400 Hz power supply circuit breaker in case of PEN breakage. It is PEN normed and largely used in avionics labs. It is protected by two patents.
