Airport Systems
Global air traffic has grown steadily since 2003, even if projections for the years ahead vary from continent to continent (5% in Europe, 30% in Asia). To adapt air traffic management infrastructure to future demand, civil aviation authorities need to upgrade their current systems to develop new applications. In response to increasing air traffic volumes at the busiest airports, Thales has developed an integrated gate-to-gate solution that encompasses the en-route, approach and airport phases. These systems tighten security at all points of the airport and ensure smoother management of air traffic. Thales also offers a range of airport security products for surveillance of airport zones and access routes to enhance security of airlines, civil aviation authorities and passengers

Automation Centres
Operational circumstances change, new standards are implemented by ICAO(*) and new technologies are developed to assist ANSPs(*). To meet these demanding challenges Thales has developed EUROCAT, a high performance, high availability, fail-safe, adaptable and modular ATC(*) system for continental en route, transcontinental, oceanic airspaces and approach control area, from low to very high traffic density.
EUROCAT is a field proven and reliable system, prepared for the future, which currently controls European, African, Asian, Australian, Central and South American Airspaces.
The EUROCAT air traffic management system is recognised as the industry standard with demonstrable benefits from a proven operational track record.
As a fully Eurocontrol-compliant solution, EUROCAT plays a leading role in European ANSP standardisation.
Eurocat is a leading system in terms of safety and is fully compliant with a number of standards including ICAO, SYSCO, AIDC, ADEXP, ASTERIX, EATMP and EUROCONTROL ESSAR. Its Medium Term Conflict Detection (MTCD) minimises the number of false alarms allowing the controller to concentrate more on flight safety, and a "What-if" capability can be used to check the consequences of proposed clearances. The system is redundant on a number of levels including hardware, network and software and offers by-pass or reduced modes.
