The Product YAP system

The YAP system is a multilingual, virtually automatic high quality airport announcement system, based on the human native voice. The database of messages, airlines, airports, destinations etc. is upgraded and updated continuously.

The announcements roughly fall into two main categories being flight-related and airport-related messages. The flight-related messages (e.g.: check-in, boarding, delay, cancellation, diversion and arrival announcements) can almost entirely be generated automatically by the YAP system through linking it to the FI(D)S (Flight Information Display System) of the airport.

Most of the airport-related messages (e.g.: smoking, pickpockets, opening, closing time and direction messages) can be composed once and be announced at fixed intervals. Other messages (e.g.: lost-and-found, a passenger requested to report somewhere or a wrongly parked car) are manually composed by means of a user friendly ‘human interface’.

The YAP system is especially developed to interface with FI(D)S/AODB with maximum flexibility. Users of the YAP system can view and control the stream of incoming messages (created by FI(D)S, mobile phone or e-mail) by means of an user interface. The YAP system will automatically process flight updates. Users can, at any time, change or delete messages manually. Processed messages will turn into announcements and will be broadcasted at the right time, at the right place with the assigned priority.

The YAP system Public Address (PA) interface is developed to communicate with a different number of PA systems. The interface design allows airports to create a reliable connection between their new or existing PA system and monitor all the traffic activity between the YAP system and the PA router. To monitor this announcement processing and broadcasting a number of parameters can be viewed and, when necessary, be sent to the PA hardware.

Quality and Pronunciation of the Announcements

The announcements of the YAP system are produced by native speakers which results in a pronunciation of announcements which is substantial better than in situations where local staff produce announcements. With a 10% less sound volume the YAP system provides you with a superior quality and audibility.

International passengers have a better understanding of announcements as they are informed in their native language with a clear pronunciation. This manner of communication will result in a better traffic flow of passengers to, from and between the gates.

The YAP system allows you to choose several audio zones so that the announcements will be broadcasted in designated audio zone(s). This reduces unnecessary announcements in the other zones. The YAP system can easily broadcast different announcements at the same time in different audio zones. The automatic time and priority selection ensures that the right announcement will be announced at the right time in the selected language(s).
