In 1978 the very first COBUS went into service at Zurich International Airport.

Although at the time it was not known by this name, it still bore all of the brand‘s most important hallmarks. Today it is still reliably plying its trade. Since CONTRAC GmbH, now COBUS INDUSTRIES GmbH, took over production, the COBUS has been the world‘s market leader since 1990. Today it is to be found at almost every modern airport.

Since then the flagship, the COBUS 3000, has been completed by the models COBUS 2700, 2700s, 2500 and E.COBUS. Therefore, the COBUS family now offers the tailor-made solution for every specific transport requirement. As we are always further developing the COBUS, we are now able to launch the models of the fourth generation! However, at the same time we guarantee an efficient maintenance of vehicle fleets containing different generations. This ensures that your COBUS will never look worse for wear.

Most buses that are ordered for airports today bear the COBUS logo. We are the only company in the world that is dedicated exclusively to the construction of airport buses. And we have been for over three decades. For passengers, the trip begins already with the COBUS: its wide doors – the gateway to the world. An exaggeration? No. We lift them up already when they enter the bus. Form follows function? True. What should stand in the way of a classic form? Every COBUS generation is an eye-catcher at the airport. That’s what our customers and passengers say. Thanks to harmonious design and gentle face-lifting in the care of the models, even older generation buses never look outdated. A proven concept: A corrosion-free bolded aluminium body assembled from the patented CO-BOLT system is connected with the extremly rugged chassis. Practically indestructible. Just a little TLC is sufficient to keep the COBUS in good operating form. And technological progress? It allows us to configure your COBUS to meet the latest emission standards. In the future, even EUROMOT IV. That’s not enough? Then get yourself an E.COBUS! Brand new. Or as „diesel to electric upgrade“: your old COBUS comes to us and rolls back to you with a factory overhaul and complete e-drive!

This is why all airlines aim to reduce the time their fleets spend on the ground to a minimum. Every airport is, therefore, faced with the challenge:
How can the passenger move as fast as possible from the check-in to the aircraft and, after landing, from the apron to baggage collection?
Our mission: The COBUS ensures the fastest, most economic and safest route for passengers to and from remote positions. This shortens time on the ground for the aircraft, increases capacity and flexibility of the terminal – and thus, at the end of the day, passenger comfort.

    Up to 110 passengers fit comfortably in the COBUS 3000 (according to IATA AHM 950). That is double the amount that fits into a normal solo city bus. Short ”turn arounds” optimise terminal capacities, and the transport concept of the COBUS makes the quickest way of moving passengers to remote positions possible through comfort and performance.

  • COBUS 2700s - maximum capacity with minimum dimensions

    Even with its smaller exterior dimensions the COBUS 2700s lacks nothing. Compared with a normal city bus it still offers transport capacity of up to 77 passengers, and that with its smaller dimensions. Its advantages are due to a smaller turning circle and a suitable length for high manoeuvrability in the busy ramp area.

    Up to 99 passengers fit comfortably in the COBUS 2700 (according to IATA AHM 950). That is almost double the amount that fits into a normal solo city bus.   • e.COBUS – fully electric

    Based on the concept of the aluminum airport bus, COBUS Industries GmbH now presents the first fully electric airport bus e.COBUS 3000. Besides the diesel buses which are successfully operating since almost three decades, the e.COBUS now is the first pure (100%) electrically operated COBUS. COBUS Industries GmbH’s response to the increasing demand for environmental protection.

    Some strong technical data: The permanent magnet drive of the e.COBUS is powered by LTO (lithium-titanate) batteries with a total capacity of 85 kWh. Recharging of batteries is done at stationary charging stations. In only 1-3 hours’ time the bus is 100% recharged. In addition, the e.COBUS is equipped with an on-board-charging system.

    The combination of a complete recharge (for example time-fill) and the possibility of rapid recharge during dead times enables a smooth and efficient full-time operation at the airport.

    The passenger compartment of the e.COBUS is equipped with three extra-wide doors on both sides for easy and comfortable embarking and disembarking. Of course, a wheel chair ramp is also available for passengers with reduced mobility. With its sufficient number of seats and standing area the e.COBUS is the ideal environmental friendly airport bus.
