Belo Horizonte International Airport drives the growth of the innovation economy

Technology, cargo and people: this is the connection that puts Belo Horizonte International Airport in evidence in the advanced logistics ecosystem applied to multimodality and the airport sector. In addition to the solutions, the mining terminal is consolidated on the national scene as a Multimodal Logistics Hub in constant movement and evolution, maintaining a focus on innovation and an attentive eye on the market. Combining the operational efficiency of the systems, based on the most advanced technological content, with the team’s training performance, the airport bets on industry 4.0 to guarantee agility and excellent service to the entire foreign trade chain.

This theme is one of the highlights of the BIN@Minas 2022 Congress, organized by FCJ Venture Builder together with FEUP – Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, which brought together researchers and global experts in Belo Horizonte, with the aim of bringing the academic universe closer together of market practices around the Growth of the Innovation Economy. “We integrate an environment of multiple operations, and innovation is in our DNA, as we are the first Industrial Airport in Brazil and, now, the first to create the Innovation Center project”, says the Innovation Manager at BH Airport , Mariana Yazbeck.

“BH Airport’s participation in an innovation event of international scope is very relevant, as it positions Belo Horizonte International Airport as a strategic player in the innovation ecosystem of Minas and Brazil”, he evaluates, reinforcing the concessionaire’s capacity demonstrate that it is possible to leverage innovation in a highly regulated sector. Mariana Yazbeck was one of the guests at the event and moderated the panel “The challenges of digital and smart manufacturing to support sustainable production”.

The manager of BH Airport’s Multimodal Logistics Hub, Marcelo Farias, represented the airport in the “Advanced Logistics” panel and contributed to the exchange of knowledge and experiences in best practices related to the human being interface and technological innovation. “With a strong team, connected, trained and accomplished at work, the company makes the difference and gains in efficiency, agility and results from more effective solutions”, he shares, emphasizing the need to promote a change in culture to reach a new level. of sustainability that puts people at the center of the discussion.

Switching the panel’s focus to airport logistics, Marcelo Farias highlighted the leading position of the Minas Gerais terminal with the international projection of the hub in connections by sky, land and sea. In this scenario, investments and partnerships are fundamental elements for strengthening and consolidating the airport as a logistics center, both domestic and international, and for receiving, storing and distributing cargo, enabling efficient solutions for customers. “Through the Logistics Partners Program, we develop innovative initiatives, products and customizations as a differential to serve the market, highlighting the customer as a reference, looking for their best experience with us”, he emphasizes, signaling the value of strategic synergy with partners.

“Currently, in addition to air cargo, we are among the largest recipients of the closed container (full container) and maritime fractional cargo (Less Container Load) modalities in the country”, declares Marcelo Farias, revealing that the Multimodal Logistics Hub is constantly evolving. , always attentive to the growth of relevant market shares, such as e-commerce. The news recently announced about the launch of the Innovation Center project inside the airport was another highlight celebrated by the manager of BH Airport at BIN@Minas. “We are at the forefront and at the forefront of technological innovation in airports”, he celebrates. “I really want to see the logistics vertical and its solutions take place at the BH Airport Innovation Center”, underlines Marcelo Farias.
