Eindhoven Airport Announces Terminal Expansion

Company Eindhoven Airport
Date 30.03.2022

Eindhoven Airport is going to expand its terminal. The current terminal is currently too small because it was built for 5 million passengers per year. Eindhoven Airport expects to return to around 7 million passengers (the level before the coronapandemic). The expansion will increase the comfort for travelers and employees by creating more space for handling the airport processes and services.

The current terminal is approximately 26,000 square meters. The expansion will add a total of 10,000 square meters to the terminal (8000 square meters on airside and 2000 square meters on landside). The reclaim hall will be enlarged and there will be more space for (additional) gates. The Non-Schengen area will also be expanded. Furthermore, more space will be created for catering. The extension will be on the first floor and the second floor. The extension will be built at the current terminal on the forecourt, directly opposite the main entrance to car park P1. The party responsible for the construction will be announced in October.

EGM architecten, Iv-Bouw and Eindhoven Airport will sign the contract for the design work for the expansion of the terminal. The architect will make a preliminary and a final design. In addition, the architect will be responsible for the management and supervision during construction. Iv-Bouw will provide the structural and installation design. The preliminary design will be ready by the end of July. The final design is expected in January 2023. Construction will start at the end of 2023. The extension will be completed in the second half of 2025. Parts of it will already be put into use in phases.

Eindhoven Airport is convinced that the expansion of the terminal will contribute to the quality, comfort and image that Eindhoven Airport wants to offer.
