International Certificate for Istanbul Airport’s “Carbon Management”

Carbon management efforts at Istanbul Airport gain international recognition

As Turkey’s gateway to the world, Istanbul Airport was awarded an international certificate as a result of its efforts to manage and reduce its carbon footprints as part of its environment and sustainability program. Istanbul Airport, which has fulfilled its obligations within the framework of the Airport Carbon Accreditations commenced by Airport Council International in 2009, has obtained a “Level One Carbon Emission Certificate”, thereby becoming included in the list of “climate-friendly airports” of Airport Council International.

Within the frame of the work completed, the sources of the greenhouse gas and the calculation methodologies have been identified at Istanbul Airport. All of the energy consumption data of the airport has been traceable and all of its greenhouse gas emissions have been computable since the date the airport was opened. The Greenhouse Gas Emission Management System applications at the airport were audited by inspectors approved by Airport Council International, in line with the requirements of the Airport Carbon Accreditation program and Istanbul Airport obtained a certificate which is of importance in the international arena.

Istanbul Airport rolls out PCR, Antigen and
Antibody Tests for Covid-19

5-Stars Istanbul Airport

Istanbul Airport once again stands out for its provision of outstanding passenger services. Following the opening of its PCR test centre last summer, the global hub has also begun Antibody and Antigen testing.

Alongside the PCR testing service, Istanbul Airport Test Centre has also begun Antibody and Antigen testing service, serving passengers 24/7 with results turned around quickly at the centre.

Passengers who wish to have Antibody and Antigen testing performed as part of the travel requirements of the countries they are travelling to, or for precautionary purposes, can benefit from these services prior to their flights at the airport.

Having a blood test, the Antibody test is used to determine whether a passenger has had the coronavirus (COVID-19) infection before, and the Antigen test, which is used to determine whether an individual still has the virus, all results can be obtained within a maximum of four hours at the Istanbul Airport Test Centre.

The 5,000m² PCR Testing Centre inside Istanbul Airport’s terminal has a daily testing capacity of 12,000 PCR tests with 1,500 PCR tests currently being performed per day. PCR results are rapidly available within two to four hours, the tests being concluded in laboratories established at Istanbul Airport.
