Reconstruction of RWY-1 has started at Sheremetyevo airport

Sheremetyevo International Airport closed the runway 06С/24С (RWY-1) in order to carry out its reconstruction from January 18 to November 30, 2020. During this period, independent RWY-2 and RWY-3 will be in operation.

Reconstruction is planned to be carried out within 11 months. The work involves complete disassembly and new construction of a full-fledged cement-concrete runway with a length of 3550 m and a width of 60 m.

The specialists of JSC SIA together with the specialists of Aeroflot Airlines and the State Corporation for Air Traffic Management conducted a simulation and developed a series of work scenarios under different conditions of using two runways in order to ensure high-quality and uninterrupted operation in the conditions of RWY-1 closure.
