Business Continuity Management for Airports Summit 2018, a platform that provides effective strategies in achieving operational resilience within the shortest response time at times of disruptions, improving emergency communication with internal & external and best practices in identifying BCM priorities to sustain airport continuity operations. This summit will feature world class speakers presenting their real-life case studies through enlightening keynotes, in-depth panel discussions, interactive networking activities and workshops.

Mr Nitin Sawant, Deputy Manager ARFF of Mumbai International Airport, is one of our distinguished Guest Speaker. He has 25 years of aviation industry experience in the field of Fire, Safety, Emergency Management and Business Continuity. As an Emergency Planner, Mr Nitin was actively involved in preparation of Business Continuity Plan as well as Airport Emergency Management Plan for CSI (Mumbai) Airport.

Mr Nitin will be highlighting the adoption of BCM as a Core Function, not a subset, to achieve competitive advantages at the summit. He will also be leading a workshop session – Capacity Building for BCM in Developing Successful BC Frameworks Amidst Airport Disruptions. This workshop aims to provide keys to effective event-specific risk assessment to best manage unplanned incidents as well as to help to have visibility into potential disruptions before they occur. Mr Nitin will share best practices on business impact analysis and tools used for managing risk assessment for business continuity.

Mr Nitin was asked what he would like to take away from the summit. He said,

“The concept of ‘business continuity’ has been developed from the need of “Societal Security” during any disaster, natural, man-made or technological. The livelihood of the people is more important in post-disaster scenario. In my opinion this summit should endeavor to ensure “Societal Security” through proper implementation of business continuity management system.”

As airports worldwide represent vital backbone that connect communities and people across the globe, the likelihood that incidents will occur threatening to disrupt the continuity of business and operations at airports creates significant risks. Major and even minor operational disruptions not only impact travelers, but lead to significant revenue losses, require massive response costs and cause broader economic losses at the local, regional and even national level.
