International Summit On Borders Returns To Washington, DC For Second Annual Conference

Clarion Events announces the return of the International Summit on Borders, which launched last June in Washington, DC at the Army and Navy Club. The 2nd annual event, taking place June 19 – 20, 2018, will move to an expanded venue at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, DC. The theme of this year’s conference is Borders of the Future: Managing Global Borders in the 21st Century.

Global leaders, practitioners and stakeholders will address the most pressing issues facing international border security agencies today. The 2018 program to date has distinguished speakers and border security experts confirmed to speak from the U.S., Canada, Australia, Finland, Ireland, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and South Africa. The program is currently supported by 19 international advisory board members who assure the highest caliber content focusing on the most pressing issues, and one that will attract the best and brightest speakers.

Tony Smith CBE, a former Director General of the U.K. Border Force, said “I am delighted to be co-chairing the International Summit on Borders in Washington DC again this year. We will bring together an impressive array of border leaders and experts from across the globe, to discuss common issues and challenges in modern day border management.”

Michael Pezzullo, Secretary, Department of Home Affairs, Australia will deliver the Luncheon Keynote on the opening day of the conference, Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 12:30 pm.

A Plenary Keynote by Enrique Canon, Director General of Uruguay Customs, Chairperson of the World Customs Organization Council, will open day two, Wednesday, June 20 at 8:30am, followed by a Luncheon Keynote from Thomas Homan, Acting Director, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Kevin McAleenan, Acting Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Clarence Yeo, Commissioner of Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Control will deliver remarks as part of a high level leaders’ dialogue on best practices for border agencies in the 21st Century.
