Air Cargo Africa 2017

Event Information

Air Cargo Africa 2017 is the fourth edition of the biennial international Air Cargo series of events organised by The STAT Trade Times (STAT Times), the flagship publication of STAT Media Group, a 30-year-old transport and logistics trade media with a predominant focus on air cargo.

The first edition of this event in Africa took place at Nairobi, Kenya, in 2011. Subsequently, the event had its successful second and third editions in Johannesburg in South Africa. This is considered the most popular air cargo trade exhibition and conference event in the global air cargo industry calendar. The event attracts key industry stakeholders like airlines, airports, freight forwarders, cargo handlers, IT solution providers, charter solution providers, cargo associations, aircraft manufacturers and air shippers. While the inaugural event attracted 60 exhibitors, 257 delegates and 2429 trade visitors, its last edition in 2015 had participation of 80 exhibitors, 527 delegates and 2915 trade visitors. One of the things that we are most proud of achieving through this event is bringing shippers to the heart of air cargo conversations. Our exclusive AIR SHIPPERS FORUMS during the three-day event are platform where shippers/manufacturers share knowledge and raise concerns on air cargo supply chains with other stake holders. These exclusive forums are hosted by leading airports and airlines of the world.

STAT Times has always committed itself to the promotion of excellence in the industry. As a part of its commitment, STAT Times has instituted ‘STAT Times International Award for excellence in Air Cargo’ to honour achievers of excellence in various sectors of the air freight industry. Readers of STAT Times from around the world are invited to participate in an online nomination survey to select their choice of best air cargo industry professionals and organisations in different award categories. These awards are integral to our biennial international air cargo events.

The Air Cargo Africa series of events have succeeded in bringing into global attention the plethora of untapped opportunities for the air freight industry in the African continent. The event has also helped to highlight the importance of the air freight industry for the continent which is in the throes of economic growth.

South Africa’s City of Ekurhuleni, the host city for the event, has found Air Cargo Africa to be an ideal platform to further their civil aviation infrastructure objectives. In fact the City of Ekurhuleni is in the midst of building an aerotropolis around the O. R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.
