Materna will be presenting versatile solutions for airports and airlines

Materna Integrated Passenger Services (IPS) will once again be exhibiting at the 2018 Passenger Terminal Expo (PTE) in Stockholm with innovative and flexible solutions for check-in, automated bag drop, biometry and security. Visitors will see our range of quick and easy retrofit self bag drop systems as well as greenfield solutions including the Materna flagship product family “Air.Go”. Materna IPS will also be demonstrating its new Pax.Go kiosk for check-in and self bag drop for the very first time. In addition to this, visitors will be able to seamlessly experience the entire automated passenger journey from check-in to boarding in an impressive virtual reality showcase: With the Oculus Rift data goggles, they will find themselves in a virtual reality airport scenario and personally operate the systems with a controller. Encapsulating the message of “Experience Versatility”, Materna will be presenting its versatile and modular machines live at stand no. 1100.

Product launch at Passenger Terminal Expo: The new Pax.Go kiosk

Materna will launch its next generation Pax.Go kiosk at PTE in Stockholm for the very first time. The kiosk provides capability for both check-in and self bag drop and has been developed for international markets. The new Pax.Go solution is unique in that its modular structure supports expanded capabilities with additional devices being easily added as requirements or business processes evolve. For many airports this would be the future integration of devices supporting biometric identification. The kioskĀ“s screen size is individually selectable from 19 to 32 inches. With a flexibly adjustable screen and other features for the disabled, this system fully complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) that anti-discrimination measures and barrier-free public facilities have been based on for over 25 years.

Self Bag Drop solutions in virtual reality

In a virtual reality showcase, Materna will additionally present various self bag drop solutions including different types of kiosk versions or retrofit units for quick and easy mounting. These provide different scanning and printing options and impress with their modular design. The virtual tour shows exactly the process of 1-step and 2-step baggage drop and seamlessly demonstrate the entire passenger journey from check-in to boarding.

The virtual reality technology permits expo visitors from airports and airlines to gain an impression of how an individual solution will fit into their terminal design and infrastructure. This virtual reality service is customisable for any of the Materna solutions for any airport.

Virtual and augmented reality solutions for airports and airlines

Materna supports airports and airlines with mobile, true-to-scale virtual reality presentations for trade fairs and sales, as well as interactive simulations for a variety of uses such as staff training or familiarisation. In addition, the service provider can also offer augmented reality solutions supporting maintenance and construction activities, as well as personalised videos for customer acquisition and brand communications.

Swedish airports are equipped with Materna self-service solutions

The Passenger Terminal Expo Stockholm is hosted by Swedavia, the operator of Sweden’s ten largest airports, which handle more than 37 million passengers a year collectively. To process all these passengers, Swedavia relies on self-service systems from Materna at three key passenger touchpoints. The operator’s airports are already equipped with just under 200 check-in kiosks, more than 190 self bag drop systems and over 80 automatic gates altogether. This gives Swedavia a pioneering role in Scandinavia where self-service and passenger comfort are concerned.

The Passenger Terminal Expo (PTE) is one of the world’s most important conference and exhibitions for airports and airlines from more than a hundred countries. The three-day event offers its guests a varied range of meetings and panel discussions on international developments in the industry. Additionally over 200 exhibitors will be presenting their latest solutions and innovations for improving efficiency and the passenger experience.
