Alstef to modernize baggage handling system areas at Martinique Aimé Césaire Airport

In this context, main goals of this new installation are the growth of baggage handling system and the achievement of international standards notably with the integration of Standard 3 screening machines.

This multiphase project will be realized without interrupting the exploitation. Commissioning is scheduled for end of 2020. This project includes the redesigning of the baggage handling system into the International Terminal and the East side of the airport, a Terminal dedicated to Regional flights. The redesigning of Arrivals is also an integral part of the project.

The baggage handling system of the International Terminal will be moved to a new building in order to extend the surface dedicated to stores and passengers comfort. This new baggage handling system is linked to checking desks by means of high speed conveyors, located in a connecting tunnel.

An extension of the current Eastern Terminal, will enable the installation of the new baggage handling system of the Regional Terminal but also to enlarge Arrivals zone with the installation of 5 carousels (compared with 3 at present).

The installation will be equipped with Bagware® software developed by Alstef and Bagware® View monitoring.

The whole installation will be engineered to save energy, thanks to IE4 motors and Wave Concept providing temporary shutdown of conveyors when there is no bag. Alstef assists its customers concerned about environmental preservation, proposing complete solutions for energy efficiency installations.
