Amor Group has secured a contract with Canada’s Toronto Pearson International Airport to use its ChromaACDB product to monitor passenger wait time at key operational processes, allowing the airport to realise their strategy of becoming North America’s hub airport of choice for international travellers.

As part of the solution Amor will be installing North America’s largest passenger tracking system utilising the world’s first commercial implementation of BluFi, delivered by the BlipTrack element of ChromaACDB. BlipTrack is the first system in the world to track mobile phones, completely anonymously, through augmented Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections as passengers move through the airport.

Not only will this provide airport managers with a clear picture of passenger wait times at key process points, it will also provide passengers with live, automated wait time information ensuring they are kept informed and relaxed as they move through the airport.

Martin Bowman, Transport Sector Director at Amor Group, commented:

“Airport operators, both in North America and across the globe, are faced with the challenge of obtaining an accurate picture of every aspect of their operation as and when they need it, in real-time. As one of the most forwarding thinking airports anywhere in the world, Toronto Pearson is leading the adoption of passenger measurement technologies to ensure this data is collected at every opportunity.

“ChromaACDB is proven to improve operational efficiency, resource allocation and, critically for Toronto, deliver a premier guest experience. I’m excited that we will help Toronto increase their competitive advantage in the North American market by putting the passenger process at the heart of their airport’s operation. ”

In 2011, Toronto Pearson Airport handled over 33 million passengers and almost 450,000 aircraft movements. The five year deal is in line with Amor Group’s stated aim to expand into new markets.

Janik Reigate, Director of Customer Experience at Toronto Pearson Airport said:

“We are constantly looking at the processes that passengers go through when moving through Toronto Pearson and what we can do to enhance their experience.  The implementation of BlipTrack will give us another tool to help manage the operation of the airport in an even more effective way.  Giving our guests live wait time information will allow them to be more informed and make decisions about their movement through the airport. ”

The integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth tracking system of BlipTrack enables it to track smartphones such as iPhones and Android devices, which cannot be achieved through Bluetooth alone. The technology provides a robust and future proof way to manage resources and help passengers as they visit the airport.
