August saw the first truckload of slave pallets leave the Joloda Hydraroll factory in Liverpool following the recent launch of the company’s new business branch, Joloda Air Cargo Equipment.
In partnership with AirTech Innovations, the initiative positions Joloda Hydraroll as a complete solution provider for air cargo handling, encompassing airside and landside operations. The combined expertise of Joloda Hydraroll and AirTech Innovations means global suppliers can now depend on the company for comprehensive solutions from the aeroplane to the front door.
One-stop shop
The past 12 months have been pivotal in the strategic growth of Joloda Hydraroll with significant expansions across its suite of loading and unloading solutions. In 2023, the company achieved a turnover approaching £50 million, supported by a dedicated team of nearly 300 employees across offices in the UK, Europe, America, South America and Asia. A global network of more than 35 local sales and support partners ensures solutions are accessible and supported worldwide.
In addition to the launch of Joloda Air Cargo Equipment in 2024, Joloda Hydraroll also acquired Actiw Oy. A leader in automated loading solutions for unmodified trailers, Actiw addresses the unique needs of sectors like FMCG in Europe and America, where trailers can travel exceptionally long distances between factory and warehouse facilities without unloading. The acquisition enables Joloda Hydraroll to offer these companies operational efficiencies and ROI via loading solutions that do not require dedicated trailer fleets. It completes the Joloda Hydraroll offering of a one-stop shop loading solutions manufacturer.
Commitment to innovation
The past 12 months have also seen several innovations and upgrades to Joloda Hydraroll’s existing range of loading and unloading solutions. In September 2023, it released a new modular Powered Cargo Roller (PCR) system for the air cargo industry. The system is the first of its kind that can be retrofitted to any standard trailer due to its unique, low-profile design.
The new Powered Cargo Roller unit is now available as part of Joloda Hydraroll’s Modular Rollerbed Systems (MRS) range. The MRS concept transforms any standard trailer into a rollerbed vehicle for handling all types of air cargo equipment, including PMC pallets and ULDs. Rollers are activated pneumatically so that air cargo can be rolled in and out of the trailer without forklift trucks, helping road feeder service companies load and unload their vehicles more efficiently, sustainably and safely.
This was followed by the introduction of a new control box for the Joloda Hydraroll range of pneumatic rollerbed systems in May 2024. The control box has been re-engineered to simplify use and maintenance of the systems, with features that include a unique AutoDown safety mechanism to automatically lower the rollers if they are still in the raised position when the vehicle sets off.
A new user-friendly design clearly indicates which push/pull lever controls each section of rollertrack, meaning simple and safe use for operators unfamiliar with rollerbed systems, while a more compact inner design allows the entire internal assembly to be easily removed. This, along with external airline connections, speed up mounting and demounting for maintenance and servicing of airpipes and valves. The control box’s external dimensions remain the same so components are interchangeable for replacements.
Conclusion
Gary Warner, Marketing Manager at Joloda Hydraroll, said: “We have a legacy of more than 60 years, which is a testament to our relentless pursuit of loading innovation, sustainability and safety. With six factories and offices on four continents, we are well-positioned to continue setting industry standards in loading and unloading technology to meet the needs of an even broader range of businesses.”
Since 1962, Joloda Hydraroll has installed more than half a million loading systems, helping businesses worldwide to make logistics operations more efficient, safe and sustainable.
