Rubb provided a moveable environmental building to defence technology giant QinetiQ to provide shelter for testing and evaluating MoD assets.
QinetiQ is a British defence technology company based in Farnborough, Hampshire, United Kingdom. QinetiQ Estates needed a mobile 8m span x 18m long fabric building to cover the Terrier Orion Launcher at the MoD Hebrides Range at Rangehead, Benbecula.
The Range is used for a many tasks, including the release of short, medium and long-range munitions. Over recent years the Range has evolved to support the testing and evaluation of modern weapon systems for the MoD.
Rubb designed, manufactured and constructed a military hangar featuring an insulated cladding system for aircraft MRO and storage operations
Rubb Buildings Ltd dismantled an existing facility and replaced it with a 22m wide x 40m long BVE structure with sidewalls measuring 6m high. A specialist contractor supplied and installed a reinforced concrete ring beam foundation, drilled and dowelled into the existing 250mm thick concrete pad.
The hot dip galvanized steel frame was erected and clad with Rubb’s 150mm thick Thermohall insulation system, which provides a U value of 0.25W/m²K. The structure includes sidewall rainwater gutters and downcomers.
Rubb Military will be joining forces with other ADS members on the UK Pavilion at Eurosatory. Visitors will be able to explore all the latest field infrastructure solutions that Rubb Military aircraft hangars, sunshades, shelters and warehouses can provide at Stand K720.
