Aeropuerto Internacional de Carrasco (MVD) in Uruguay’s capital Montevideo relies on Xovis 3D Sensors to tackle waiting times at security and passport control. MVD is the first South American air-port to count on Xovis, the global market leader for people flow monitoring in the airport industry.

“We got familiar with the Xovis Technology during a two-month trial. The stereo vision based 3D sensors proved to be a very effective tool to count passengers and measure waiting times and other KPIs. Based on the gathered data we are able to optimize the planning of staff and resources, reduce waiting times and ultimately improve passenger satisfaction”, explains Federico Cabrera, Head of CCO at MVD.

With an annual passenger flow over two million travelers MVD is an important hub in Latin America. “We are very proud to welcome Aeropuerto Internacional de Carrasco on board as our first customer in the region. We aim at equipping as many South American airports as possible, since we are convinced that we offer the best solution”, says Andreas Fähndrich, Managing Director Xovis Airports.

Around 40 international airports count on Xovis to measure a broad range of KPIs such as waiting times, process times and passenger throughput. Based on stereo vision, the combination of 3D sensors and software solutions stands out with unmatched accuracy, reliability and ease of use. The system includes a sophisticated data privacy concept and does not depend on signal emitting devices. The Xovis 3D sensors are also establishing as standard in the retail and other industries.
