Simtra AeroTech AB, developers of software solutions for aviation and transportation planners, designers, engineers and architects, is pleased to announce the release of Obstacle Surface Planner 1.22, the latest update to the company's tool for ICAO Annex 14 and FAA Part 77 obstacle limitation analysis.
In response to customer feedback, Obstacle Surface Planner 1.22 includes an updated ICAO Annex 14 Obstacle Limitation Surface (OLS) creation command. When working with multiple runways, it is now possible to nominate a specific elevation for each individual runway. Depending on the layout of the runways, this can result in a step in the Inner Horizontal and Conical Surfaces at the point where the lower surfaces are no longer dominant. Considered an aggressive interpretation of ICAO by some but a necessity by others (especially those in working with airports located in mountainous areas) this feature improvements flexibility and user control.
As is the norm, Obstacle Surface Planner 1.22 also incorporates a range of smaller refinements such as bug fixes and improved feedback for users.

About Simtra
Founded in 1989, Simtra was originally involved in the navigation of mobile robots. The company branched out in 1994 and merged the results of the robotics research with airport know-how provided by the Swedish Civil Aviation Authority. This resulted in the software application PathPlanner; an airside planning, design and operations tool that could be used directly in the CAD environment.
In recent years other software products have been added to Simtra’s portfolio and today the company is recognized as a leading supplier of software solutions and services for planners, designers, engineers and architects in both the aviation and transportation industries.
