Tern Systems completed the upgrade of the TSIM ATC training simulator, at the Korea Airport Corporation (KAC) facilities in Jeju, South-Korea. KAC has been using the TSIM simulator for the training of air traffic controllers, in an environment that includes Tern ATC Automation System (TAS) and Tern Voice Communication Simulator (ComSim), for the last 5 years.
Along with the upgrade, KAC personnel received training in the operation of the simulator, with focus on new functionality added in this version of TSIM. Following installation and training, a site acceptance test was completed successfully.
Jeju airport is the second busiest airport in South-Korea, with close to 20 million passengers passing through it each year. On top of that, Jeju airport is part of the busiest air route in the world (Jeju – Seoul). The TSIM ATC training simulator allows KAC to prepare air traffic controllers during unit training, in the operation of the TAS system, that is the main ATC automation system for tower and approach sectors, at Jeju International Airport.
