Sydney Airport, Australia
Designed to celebrate the joy of travel and articulate the importance of public spaces, the redevelopment of Sydney Airport Terminal 1 involves the expansion of the departures level of the International Terminal to help create an integrated and dynamic passenger experience.
Washrooms for such a prestigious and stylish environment needed to be both stylish and functional. Working alongside architects Woods Bagot and Architectus, Dolphin supplied and commissioned a system that combined the highly efficient BC2003 hand dryer, and the time and labour saving bulk foam dispenser modules, behind a mirror. This gave a stylish, contemporary feel to the washroom as well as delivering a smooth, efficient washroom experience for users, which helped save its operator’s time, effort and money.
The large capacity foam soap dispensers with infra-red sensors, both hygienic and user friendly, required less refilling helping save costs. For washroom users, drying hands was fast and easy – they could have dry hands within 13 seconds of placing their hands under the infra-red sensor. For the washroom operators, the high speed low energy hand dryers helped keep energy costs down and reduce their carbon footprint.
A perfect combination of style and function, the washroom installations delivered an enjoyable user experience that will stand up to the rigours of heavy commercial use and help save time, effort and money.
London Transport Museum, UK
Located in the heart of Covent Garden under the glass roof and cast iron pillars of the Victorian Flower Market, the original features of this fabulous Grade II listed building create an ornate backdrop for the Transport Museum’s contemporary galleries.
The washrooms for such a unique building, with stunning galleries devoted to the story of London’s transport, needed to be as striking as they were functional. A strong, contemporary approach was taken toward the design of the main washroom – circular in shape it had a specially designed ‘wave-like’ sink around the perimeter giving easy access to hand washing facilities. To enhance the contemporary look and feel of the environment DB400 panel mounted electronic infrared taps were used alongside WP194 panel mounted soap dispensers. As well as looking good, this helped create a seamless, efficient experience for washroom users, which helped save its operator’s time, effort and money.
A perfect combination of style and function for such a unique location, the washroom delivered an enjoyable user experience that will stand up to the rigours of heavy commercial use and that will be cost effective and easy to run for its operators.
Dublin Airport, Ireland
Dublin airport’s new Terminal 2 has been described as ‘a first-class mix of form and function’ – a contemporary, high-spec building designed for efficiency. Specifically designed to appeal to, and cope with 15 million passengers a year, this modern, curvy building needed washrooms that would look good, and be up to the challenges of a rigorous commercial environment.
‘No touch’ stainless steel taps and hand dryers, combined with panel mounted soap dispensers (with easy to access 5 litre refillable soap bottle), helped create a washroom that looks good and that is quick and easy to use.
On this project the WP194 soap dispenser, BC2200SS hand dryer and DB400S were used together built into a stainless steel unit. These included a 5 litre refillable soap bottle filled from the front with a lockable drawer.
Adelaide Airport, Australia
Adelaide Airport recently completed a trial wash room refurbishment as part of an ongoing upgrade to airport facilities. In order to deliver an excellent and functional design a number of washroom products from various manufacturers currently available in the hand dryer/tap combination range were assessed and tested on site with particular attention paid to aspects such as user experience & ease of installation.
From this assessment the Dolphin ALAVO modular system was chosen to be an integral part of the upgrade as it contained all the required elements of mirrors, lighting, taps, hand dryers, paper towel and soap dispensers in an attractive integrated modular cabinet system. Working with designer Katherine Rawlings and contractor Sarah Constructions, Dolphin Wash room Solutions was able to deliver the ALAVO system as pictured to be a vital part of the upgrade works at Adelaide Airport South Australia.
