Airport Runway Marking Removal & Runway Rubber Removal
Hog Technologies manufactures the Stripe Hog Waterblasting System and Smart Vac Vacuum Systems which are used to remove rubber deposits from touchdown zones on runways and all types of traffic markings from asphalt and concrete runways and roadways.
The Stripe Hog Waterblasting System quickly and completely removes all types of durable traffic markings from asphalt and concrete surfaces with the least amount of negative impact to the surface. The Stripe Hog does its work using many needle-sharp 40,000 psi water jets and a powerful vacuum recovery system, called the Smart Vac that leaves the road or runway clean and almost dry. The resulting debris is quickly dehydrated using a patented process, so that the debris can then be dumped in a dried state in one big clump that easily falls from the tank making the jobsite cleanup easy and complete.
Airport and Runway Solutions
Hog Technologies is the world-leading manufacturer of high-pressure water blasting equipment for runway rubber removal. The world-renowned Stripe Hog Waterblasting system is operating in 56 countries on six continents, and has more units working around the world that its top five competitors combined. Customers describe the operating system as being innovative, efficient, productive, versatile, profitable and dependable. All units operate at 40,000 psi (2750 bar) and, dependent upon the model, are capable for removal widths from 6-72 inches (15.2-182.9 cm).
With six chassis-mounted systems, two skid-mounted systems, a full line of attachment options and production capabilities from 6-12 gallon a minute (22.7-45.4 liters a minute), there’s no need for a ‘one size fits all’ machine.
Runway Rubber Removal
Every time an airplane lands it leaves a small amount of rubber on the runway surface. This rubber melts to the surface, working its way into the grooves cut into the runway for water drainage and additional friction. Overtime, this rubber builds up on the runway surface causing it to lose its friction characteristics, becoming slippery and eventually unsafe for aircrafts to land on. This rubber also starts obscuring runway paint markings creating additional safety concerns.
Stripe Hogs quickly and effectively removes runway rubber deposits, returning the necessary friction characteristics to the surface without adversely affecting the surface profile.
Because Stripe Hogs only use water there are no messy caustic chemicals to clean up leaving the surface clean and relatively dry allowing the runway to be used almost immediately after cleaning.
About Hog Technologies
Hog Technologies, founded in 1988 by its current president and CEO James P Crocker, manufactures the Stripe Hog Waterblasting System and is the world leader in marking removal, rubber removal, surface preparation and pavement cleaning. The Stripe Hog removes all types of pavement markings from roads and runways, and rubber deposits left from aircraft landings. The Stripe Hog is employed in over 56 countries around the world, with more units operating than our four closest competitors combined.
Hog Technologies is now more than water blasting! We now manufacture the Thermo Hog and Paint Hog to lay down thermoplastic or waterborne paint markings, the Surface Hog for surface cleaning and preparation, and the Rumble Hog for grinding away markings, grooving for inlaid marking, or for cutting rumble strips.
