Midfield Terminal Complex, Abu Dhabi International Airport
The Abu Dhabi International Airport Midfield Complex is integral to the Abu Dhabi 2030 plan, transforming the desert into the ‘Garden of the Gulf’ through a design that responds to its natural environment, while meeting the needs of the rapidly expanding capital.
Whilst our partner ESL Group was awarded the contract, our Kingspan insulated wall panel system has been chosen for the T3 passenger terminal’s extension, which consists of two buildings, the bus transfer terminal and the passenger screening facility.
To achieve the modern, slick look created by the architects, and to ensure high level of performance and resistance of the envelope to the harsh desert climate, Kingspan Optimo wall panels were chosen on this new terminal buildings.
Queen Alia International Airport New Terminal, Jordan
The complex architectural design of the Queen Alia International Airport’s roof required the envelope to adapt and curve to form bubble-shaped domes across the area. There was a very specific look required and the roofing material also needed to be suitable for the harsh climatic conditions of the region.
By using KingZip SF Standing Seam System, it was possible to create exactly the look desired by the architects. The guaranteed, high-level performance in terms of thermal efficiency and weather-proofing means that the roof will also withstand all the climate challenges of the region.
Hamad International Airport, Doha, Qatar
Qatar’s Hamad International Airport, a world-class facility planned to become one of the Middle East’s new aviation hubs, features the world’s largest free-span maintenance hangar.
Constructed using the KingZip SF standing seam roofing system, the hangar is capable of handling up to 13 wide-body aircraft, and will function as the central maintenance facility for Qatar Airways, the country’s national carrier.
A major design and construction feature is the column-free layout, that ensures flexible and easy aircraft parking. The roof structure was crucial, as it had to provide total protection, in addition to being thermally-efficient, fire-resistant, and weatherproof, even under extreme conditions during summer months.
Dubai International Airport, Terminal 3, UAE
The world’s largest airport terminal, with over 1,713,000 m2 (18,440,000 sq ft) of space, Abu Dhabi International Airport has a capacity of 43 million passengers.
65,852 m2 of KingZip SF were used for the curved roof design. Our state-of-the-art tapering equipment is capable of rolling tapers from coil in a single pass, as well as it allows the production of tapered sheets at a similar rate to parallel sheets.
The unique on-site formability of KingZip SF enables design and functionality to be combined with technical perfection. Convex and concave curves – formed naturally or mechanically – open up a world of opportunities for creating striking architectural statements.
