Quito’s Mariscal Sucre International Airport has been recognized as the Best Regional Airport in South America, the terminal with the Best Airport Staff in South America and the cleanest airport in South America by the prestigious British airport research and studies consultancy Skytrax. In the world ranking of airports, Mariscal Sucre is in position 40, surpassing important airports such as Montreal, San Francisco, Sydney, London Gatwick, New York LaGuardia, among others.

The award for the Best Airport Staff in South America recognizes the quality of the service (attitude, kindness and efficiency) provided by the staff who have direct contact with the passenger at the airports. Includes personnel working at passenger service and information counters, as well as security personnel, immigration control, stores, and food and beverage establishments

To grant these awards, Skytrax performs a global airport user satisfaction survey. A basic rule of the survey is to allow users to personally choose which airports they consider to be the best based on their experience.

Travelers from around the world of approximately 100 nationalities participated in the survey for this period, which began in August 2022 and ended in February 2023, and chose the best in their category.

“Maintaining ourselves as the Best Regional Airport in South America for 8 years is a great satisfaction and a sample of the consistency over time in our strategy of delivering excellent services to our passengers. We are proud that the teamwork of more than 100 companies that operate at the Quito airport is perceived positively by passengers, whom we thank for their continued support. Your vote of confidence motivates us to continue working to adapt our services to your needs and to ensure that you have an unforgettable experience while passing through the airport,” said Ramón Miró, president and CEO of Corporación Quiport.

In addition, he referred to the award for Best Airport Staff in South America: “This is a recognition that belongs to the airport employees, who provide a personal service to passengers. It is gratifying to know that passengers perceive us as a staff that adequately attends to their needs and that our commitment to serve with quality, friendliness and efficiency is reflected”, he declared.

These awards are in addition to the 5-star Skytrax rating that the airport has had since 2020.

Neither the airports nor any third parties need to pay anything to be included in the survey or prizes, as Skytrax fully funds the entire survey and prize process.

The World Airport Awards began in 1999, when Skytrax launched its first global airport customer satisfaction survey. The awards are considered quality benchmarks for airports around the world, evaluating the service to customers and the facilities of more than 500 airports.
