Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) is advising passengers to plan ahead as Austin prepares to welcome visitors for the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of The Americas.
The race weekend is expected to bring increased demand across the airport, with passengers encouraged to allow additional time for their journeys and familiarise themselves with airport access, parking and security arrangements before travelling.
Passengers advised to arrive early
Travellers departing from AUS are advised to arrive at least 2.5 hours before domestic flights and three hours before international departures. Passengers checking baggage, returning rental cars or requiring additional time before security screening should make appropriate allowances.
Airline check-in counters may experience heavier demand, so passengers who are able to check in online and use mobile boarding passes are encouraged to do so.
Plan parking and terminal access
Passengers driving to the airport should check parking availability and consider reserving a space in advance. Road traffic around the airport may also be heavier during the event period, making it important to plan routes and allow additional time for the journey.
Both upper- and lower-level terminal roadways can be used for passenger drop-off, and drivers are encouraged to use whichever level is less congested.
Security, construction and passenger assistance
Passengers should check the latest information on security checkpoint arrangements and ongoing construction at the Barbara Jordan Terminal before setting out. Allowing sufficient time for check-in, baggage handling and security screening can help reduce pressure during peak travel periods.
Austin-Bergstrom is continuing its wider Journey With AUS airport improvement programme, with construction activity taking place across the airport campus and terminal.
The airport also provides passenger assistance and accessibility services, together with digital wayfinding resources to help travellers navigate the terminal.
Passengers are encouraged to consult the airport’s official website for the latest travel guidance, parking information, construction updates and flight details ahead of their journey.
