PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports), as the operator of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport Bali, in collaboration with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the Ministry of Transportation, hosted the ICAO Aviation Security National Instructors Course.
The event, held in Bali from May 4 to 8, 2026, is an international-scale training program designed to enhance the competency of aviation security personnel, reinforce the commitment to upholding aviation security standards, and strengthen regional collaboration in the field of aviation security.
General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Nugroho Jati, stated, “Security is one of the most critical aspects of airport and aviation operations. As the air gateway to Bali, one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations with a traffic volume of over 24 million passengers per year, we require Airport Security personnel with international-standard capabilities to ensure the airport’s safety.”
“This is also in line with the implementation of one of the pillars of the Corporate Transformation Program, namely the People Pillar, by providing world-class airport personnel services. Certainly, this program is highly relevant to the needs of our Airport Security personnel, who serve as a frontline element for airport service users,” Nugroho Jati continued.
The training was attended by 23 participants from various ICAO member states in the Asia-Pacific region, including 11 participants from Indonesia, 4 from Vietnam, 4 from Macau-People’s Republic of China, 2 from Timor-Leste, and 1 participant each from the Maldives and the Solomon Islands.
The presence of these participants, who are Airport Security personnel from various international airport operators across the Asia-Pacific, reflects a shared commitment to enhancing aviation security capacity at both the national and regional levels. Throughout the ICAO Aviation Security National Instructors Course, participants received both technical and instructional training from ICAO instructors.
Through this program, participants are expected to implement the competencies gained to strengthen aviation security systems within their respective organizations and countries, while improving the quality of training delivery in accordance with ICAO standards.
“We hope that this event fosters stronger cooperation and the exchange of expertise between nations to address the evolving challenges of aviation security. This activity also serves as a significant milestone in strengthening Indonesia’s position within the global aviation ecosystem, which prioritizes safety, security, and professionalism,” Nugroho Jati concluded.
