Belo Horizonte Airport offers a solution for Azul to double its cargo capacity

Belo Horizonte Airport has just made the Domestic Cargo Connector viable in the operational area, which has a direct impact on product delivery logistics.

BH Airport remains dedicated to strengthening itself as a multimodal logistics hub and, in partnership with Azul, developed a solution to serve Azul Cargo. From now on, the airline will have a Domestic Cargo Connector at the airport, a logistics warehouse within the operational area that will help the company double its cargo capacity and, consequently, gain in efficiency.

Until then, all cargo that disembarked from Azul aircraft was transported to the airport’s Cargo Terminal to undergo screening and be distributed on Azul flights to established destinations. With the creation of the Domestic Cargo Connector, the airline now has a reserved space close to the airport’s apron and runway operational area.

“This Connector is 150 meters from the operation, in an area dedicated to Azul, which brings more efficiency, safety and speed to the process. As soon as the cargo disembarks, it is taken to this warehouse, goes through sorting and is immediately sent to aircraft to be sent to their destinations. As BH Airport is a hub for Azul, it can send items from North to South of Brazil”, explains Geovane Medina, manager of Airport Products and Services and the Cargo Terminal at BH Airport.

Every month, Azul Cargo moves 1,800 tons of cargo at BH Airport. With the creation of the Domestic Load Connector, this number will double. “This means more customers receiving their products ahead of schedule and a considerable cost reduction for the airline. BH Airport is prepared to serve customers in the best possible way and we are open to other airlines”, he highlights.
