BH Airport completes 39 years

The international terminal in Minas Gerais celebrates the date by strengthening itself as a connection hub in constant evolution

This Tuesday, the 28th, BH Airport completed another year of evolution in the national aviation scenario. Founded in 1984, the Minas Gerais international terminal consolidates itself daily as a connection hub and the main gateway to Minas Gerais. In recent years, even with all the impacts of Covid-19 on the sector, the airport has continued to evolve. The numbers prove the progressive expansion of the air network and also the movement of passengers.

In 2022, BH Airport closed the year with the movement of around 10 million passengers – an index that represents 90% of the movement achieved in 2019. In 2021, the movement reached 7 million passengers. The goal for 2023 is to recover 100% of pre-pandemic levels. At that time, the BH Airport network offered connections to 45 destinations. Today, 62 destinations strengthen one of the main hubs in the country.

We need to value the history of the airport, which is marked by transformation, especially in these almost ten years, the period in which it has been under concession. Minas Gerais now has even more modern and functional equipment. In these 39 years, there have been many changes and we had the opportunity to contribute even more to offer an adequate infrastructure and at the level that passengers and visitors deserve. There were many challenges, but the results show that we are on the right path”, evaluates the Director of Operations and Infrastructure, Herlichy Bastos.

He points out that the support of shareholders and strategic partners contributed to putting assertive projects into practice, which made the difference in what the airport is today. “In this sense, it is necessary to emphasize the completion of the renovation of Passenger Terminal 1. The interventions are noticeable when you enter the airport, especially in the domestic boarding area, which is more modern, with a centralized inspection channel and ready to receive passengers”, he points out. .

In addition, in the departure hall, the oldest part, which housed gates 3, 4, 5 and 6, was also renovated. Today, the airport has 26 boarding bridges divided between passenger terminals 1 and 2. From gates 1 to 16, all are part of Passenger Terminal 1. From 17 onwards, they make up Passenger Terminal 2. modern, it was completed in 2016 and offers comfort and convenience to passengers.
