Kleber Meira was selected to represent Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13, which deals with actions against global climate change
The CEO of BH Airport, Kleber Meira, is the new spokesperson for the Leadership with Impact program, of the United Nations (UN) Global Compact in Brazil. It was selected in a careful evaluation process to represent Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13, which deals with actions against global climate change. Being selected means that Kleber is committed to the ESG agenda and acts as an influencer and spokesperson for its SDGs so that more leaders engage with the Global Compact’s sustainable agenda.
“It is an enormous pride to be selected to be the spokesperson for the SDG that deals with global climate change. In addition to being a strategic pillar in our management at the head of BH Airport, the ESG is something I deeply believe in and defend in my daily actions . Since I took over as CEO at the airport, I have sought to engage people, partner companies, entities and the aviation chain towards good environmental, social and governance practices. Man’s daily action directly impacts climate change and it is necessary act effectively to change this scenario. Each one can do their part and I am honored with the invitation and I feel privileged to have the opportunity to involve the other leaders in this sense“, emphasizes Kleber Meira.
Kleber’s nomination is the result of a careful process. First, BH Airport had to register its CEO to join the initiative. The application was evaluated based on engagement and integrity criteria. When showing interest in taking part, the company indicated an SDG in which its president would place more emphasis and described what it does to contribute to the advancement of this specific objective. The analysis carried out by the Global Compact considered BH Airport’s involvement with the defended SDG, the reputational analysis of the company and the CEO, the level of engagement with the UN Global Compact in Brazil, as well as the alignment with the assumptions and commitments proposed by the initiative in the country.
The program seeks to position CEOs as mobilizers of ESG impact issues within their companies, in the relationship with the value chain and with influencers in general. “Understanding the importance of sustainability in the evolution of business is a path of no return. Leaders need to broaden their gaze and engage people in favor of the SDGs”, concludes the CEO of BH Airport.
