Dublin Airport reaches Level 4+ Carbon Accreditation

Company Dublin Airport
Date 21.05.2026

Dublin Airport has achieved Level 4+ of the internationally recognised Airport Carbon Accreditation programme, placing it among the top 13% of airports globally¹ for carbon management and marking a significant step forward in daa’s sustainability journey.

Awarded by Airports Council International, Airport Carbon Accreditation is the global standard for carbon management at airports. Achieving Level 4+ (the second‑highest level currently available in the programme) provides independent verification of Dublin Airport’s long‑term commitment to measuring, managing and reducing carbon emissions in line with recognised climate science.

Importantly, Dublin Airport has now reached this milestone, building on the ambitions outlined in its ESG strategy and reflecting sustained progress across energy efficiency, emissions reduction and collaboration with on‑airport partners.

The transition to Level 4+ was underpinned by robust carbon data collection, the delivery of targeted energy‑saving and emissions‑reduction measures across airport operations, and close collaboration with airlines, ground handlers and other partners operating at the airport.

Achieving Level 4+ also confirms that Dublin Airport has put in place long‑term absolute emissions reduction targets, supported by a credible delivery plan and transparent reporting. The accreditation strengthens daa’s alignment with global climate goals and science‑based targets, while reinforcing its focus on reducing both direct emissions and wider value‑chain emissions through partnership and engagement.

The achievement forms part of daa’s wider commitment to sustainability and climate action. daa is targeting net zero carbon emissions across its own operations by 2050, with significant emissions reductions by 2030, supported by continued investment in electrification, energy efficiency, renewable energy and low‑carbon solutions across Dublin Airport.

Commenting on the milestone, Andrea Carroll, Director of Sustainability at daa said:  “Achieving Level 4+ of Airport Carbon Accreditation is an important validation of the real progress being made at Dublin Airport. It reflects years of sustained effort by our teams and our partners and shows that ambitious climate targets can be matched by delivery on the ground. This achievement strengthens our commitment to responsible growth and to playing our part in addressing climate change.”

By moving to Level 4+, Dublin Airport joins a leading group of international airports that are independently recognised for their advanced approach to carbon management and decarbonisation.
