GMR Hyderabad International Airport Remains the preferred HUB of Choice in South-Central India

Hyderabad International Airport is the only airport in the country where all ten domestic airlines fly. In the last two years, the airport recovered faster than any other Metro Airport in India whilst transfer traffic increased from 9% in 2015 to 26% in the year 2022 making Hyderabad the fourth busiest airport in India.

Since the domestic destinations can be reached within 2 hrs. of flying time, domestic traffic from India and transfer traffic from South Asia, Southeast Asia & Middle East regions can support the traffic requirement for long haul flights to the USA, Europe & Australia.

Along with the MNCs and Corporate, Hyderabad has strong VFR (Visiting Friends and Relatives), Tourists, MSME (Micro Small and Medium Enterprises) and Student traffic. In the last two years, these segments have helped HYD Airport recover faster than any other Metro Airport in India. We have witnessed the recovery at a very consistent pace.
    • Compared to 55 domestic destinations pre-Covid period, Hyderabad is now connected to around 70 domestic destinations.

    • In fact, the transfer traffic increased from 9% in 2015 to 26% in the year 2022.   • To further strengthen and facilitate the Hub and Spoke operations for airlines Hyderabad International Airport is increasing its capacity from current 12 Million Passengers/Annum to 34 Million Passengers/Annum in an Integrated Domestic and International terminal under a single roof.
  • This Integrated Terminal at Hyderabad International Airport is a unique facility in the entire South and Central India and stands out from the other International Airports in the region which has multiple terminals. The integrated terminal will further add value to airlines in choosing Hyderabad International Airport as a preferred Hub.
  • This will result in the proposed Minimum Connect Time of :
    • Domestic to Domestic : 45 Minutes
    • Domestic to International : 75 Minutes
    • International to Domestic : 90 Minutes
    • International to International : 60 Minutes
  • Further, the airlines have chosen Hyderabad as their preferred airport due to its strategic location, easy tech-enabled processes, ample infrastructure, and cost-effective operation

  • The continuous growth in passengers travelling abroad from India shows the growing interest among the growing middle class to explore various countries for leisure or otherwise. The visits to the United States, Europe and Australia have always been the most preferred among the Indians.
  • There is an earnest interest in the people Telangana and adjacent states to visit newer holiday destinations such as Maldives, Nepal, Bhutan, Mauritius, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, New Zealand etc.
  • Though the overall International Travel was subdued during the prolonged COVID-19 period, Hyderabad International Airport added flights to two new international destinations i.e., Chicago and Maldives which got exceptional response from travelers. It also added a flight to London. All these flights have shown a high load factor with a high yield which is a testimony to the strong demand for international travel from the region.
