Qatar Airways Cargo relocates regional office to Hong Kong and plans to expand flights and develop new routes via Hong Kong International Airport
HONG KONG, 19 August 2026 — Airport Authority Hong Kong has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Qatar Airways Cargo to strengthen connectivity between Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) and the carrier’s global network, while deepening cooperation in aviation development.
Qatar Airways Cargo currently operates around 56 flights a week from Hong Kong International Airport to destinations across its global cargo network, using both belly-hold and freighter services. The carrier has also relocated its regional office to Hong Kong, effective 19 August.
Qatar Airways Cargo intends to expand its business presence in Hong Kong by increasing flight frequencies and developing new routes via Hong Kong International Airport, further strengthening the airport’s position as a major global air cargo hub.
The MoU was signed by Chapman Fong, Director, Hub Development of Airport Authority Hong Kong, and Eric Wilson, Senior Vice President Cargo Sales of Qatar Airways Cargo.
Under the agreement, the two parties will work to further strengthen connectivity across Qatar Airways Cargo’s worldwide route network through Hong Kong and explore cooperation in areas including operational excellence, service enhancement, sustainable development and talent development through courses offered by the Hong Kong International Aviation Academy.
Vivian Cheung, Chief Executive Officer of Airport Authority Hong Kong, said, “The MoU between Airport Authority Hong Kong and Qatar Airways Cargo marks our joint commitment to enhance air services and connectivity through HKIA.”
She added that the airport authority welcomed Qatar Airways Cargo’s intention to expand its presence in Hong Kong through increased flight frequencies and new routes, saying the authority would continue to work with airlines to strengthen Hong Kong International Airport’s connectivity and competitiveness.
The relocation of Qatar Airways Cargo’s regional office and planned expansion of its operations further strengthen Hong Kong’s position as an international air cargo hub, supporting the region’s growing demand for air freight connectivity.
