Newly renovated KIX Terminal 1 Grand Opening on Thursday, March 27, 2025!

Kansai Airports is thrilled to announce that the grand opening of the newly renovated Terminal 1 at Kansai International Airport (KIX) will take place on Thursday, March 27, 2025.

In October 2022, we opened the new domestic area, Phase 1, followed by the new international area, Phase 2, in December 2023. Now, with the completion of the terminal’s main functions, we finally celebrate the grand opening.

KIX Terminal 1 Renovation was carried out with the primary concepts of expanding international flight capacity, enhancing the airside area, and improving the passenger experience. By redesigning the layout of the international and domestic areas, expanding security checkpoints, and enriching the commercial areas after passport control for departure, we will significantly improve the convenience for our customers and our capacity to serve them. As a result, KIX will have the capacity to handle approximately 40 million international passengers (arrivals and departures combined). This renovation will ensure that we can provide comfort and hospitality to all visitors,especially with the anticipated increase in traffic during the Osaka-Kansai Expo, transforming KIX into the gateway airport of Kansai.

Tuesday, March 18
・North side security checkpoints on 4th floor
・North and south retail and service stores on 4th floor ・North immigration on the 3rd floor
・North arrival duty-free stores on the 3rd floor ・Food court on the 2nd floor

Thursday, March 27
・Common lounges for airline passengers（KIX Lounge Premium, KIX Lounge Kansai）
